Anguilla or Barbados?

got it narrowed down to these two. what do you think? looking for great beaches, choices in restaurants, hopefully, somewhat reasonable accommodations, etc. would love to hear from others, also recommendations on lodging ( $200-250 area?) Thanks

When are you going? That's the crucial question about pricing for rooms. Both islands are expensive during high season, but there are more options in your price range from May through Nov. There are some nice small hotels in Anguilla on lovely beaches, and in Barbados, you'll have more luck if you look at the South Coast.

However, on the west coast you might take a look at Divi Heritage which is near Holetown, Barbados. It's even within walking distances to shopping and dining.

Anguilla is known for beaches, otherwise a pretty dry island, not very tropical in feel. Barbados has many beaches, just smaller. Barbados is much more lush, and with a wide variety of sightseeing, restaurants, entertainment, hotels.

Anguilla has the best restaurants in the Caribbean.
Anguilla also has some of the best beaches in the world!

thanks Doug. should have mentioned we are going late January, even though it is peak we were told by one place it would knock off about 25% during Jan. Not looking for gourmet as opposed to fun local restaurants. Music would be an unexpected bonus. Looking forward to what you have to say about both. (couple_ no kidsa) Thanks

It's definitely possible to do either island if you are careful. There's definitely more to do on Barbados, so choose Anguilla if you want just the beach. I'd endorse everything the other posters have said.
