Anguilla - Cap J, CuisinA, or Malliouhana?
Hello helpful folks,
We're leaning toward Malliouhana for an August (*I know*) week vacation, but would like some feedback from those who have stayed there and/or at the other two before making arrangements. Looking for peace, excellent service, few kids, excellent beach, special spa services, and anniversary-worthy.
Suggestions, feedback, recommendations (for activities, restaurants -- not other hotels, please) greatly appreciated.
Many thanks!

There is a pretty good restaurant list on www.mycaribbean.com. Click on Tips & Tricks on the left. Then select 7 Dinners on Anguilla. For an anniversary, use the list entitled "Just the Two of Us." It includes the more romantic restaurants such as Blanchards, Mangos, Pimms, Straw Hat, Malliouhana. I would select Altamer over Hibernia and try Koal Keel or Oliver's over Trattoria Tramonto. If you want to include a couple of more casual restaurants, I would add Picante on the West End and maybe Koko's up in Island Harbor. Tasty's is great for lunch, as is Scilly Cay on a Sunday. Jazz at Johnno's is an alternative for a Sunday lunch.

Both hotels are good choices for an anniversary. We just had our 20th anniversary at Cove Castles and am booked to return to Malliouhana next season. At Cove Castles it is more of a villa vacation. There is a manager and restaurant, but not beach service or pool like you will get at Malliouhana. If you go with Malliouhana, I'd suggest looking into the Turtle Cove units for more privacy. Or the beachfront units to be closer to the water. Both hotels should be peaceful. More service at Malliouahana. Maybe more kids at Malliouhana because of the Children's Place, but Cove Castles has the kitchens, so also attracts families. Better beach at Malliouhana. Best spa on the island is at Malliouhana. Both anniversary-worthy.

I would highly recommend Cap Jaluca. My wife and I went there for our honeymoon last April and loved it. It is quiet and secluded with a great beach. The service was great, and they have one of the most romantic restaurants on the island (Pimms). We can't wait to go back. I'd also recommend Blanchard's restaurant, it was romantic with good food and service. Have fun on your trip.

Hey there- Just wanted to say-- my husband and I were at malliouhana in May 2006-- very disappointed. We had reserved one room-- they gave us another and there was no rectification. We have been to numerous lovely resorts- including Caneel bay and curtain bluff-- and this was really poor by comparison. I wish we had stayed at Cap or Cuisinart. For what it's worth! But the island is lovely and we'd go back in a heartbeat!
