Anguilla & Shoal Bay Beach Club/Villas
Planning a trip to Anguilla in spring 2001, has anyone stayed at Shoal Bay Villa's/Beach Hotel? Is this the same place, one side hotel and one side villa's? Or nothing to do with each other? Shoal Bay beach, as Ive been reading seems to have the most going on around it, such as restaurants, beach bars, etc?
Also if anyone has info on live music at night, specifically local musicians (hopefully reggae)? Any info greatly appreciated!

We have been to Anguilla two times. Both times we stayed at CuisinArt. It is lovely there. As we talked to others at the resort, they had stayed at other resorts on the island - ie Cap Jaluca, Shoal Bay, etc. and told us that CuisinArt exceeded their standards with air conditioning, restaurants, etc. It is small and romantic. We did use the spa for facials, manicures, pedicures, and massages which were all terrific. Enjoy Anguilla.... it is a secret in the Caribbean!

Been to Anguilla many times. Have never stayed at Shoal Bay but have been to the beach many, many times. I believe it is two different places that are close or right next to each other. Shoal Bay (East) is by far the busiest beach on an otherwise quiet island. It is a great beach with terrific swimming and snorkeling. There are restaurants (at least a couple) and probably a little nightlife. Most nightlife is either in Sandy Ground at a well-known club or over near Cuisinart on the beach at a club owned by the reggae singer, Bankie Bank. At both clubs things are hopping until late into the night.

Leila,
I think that it is two different places. Shoal Bay East definitely has the most going on as far as activity on Anguilla - but it depends on the day. Sunday is more local people and other days are lots of daytrippers from St Martin. We always go to Shoal Bay East at least once (usually on Sunday) - lounges, umbrellas, etc are available for rent and at least 3-4 different restaurants. One property that we considered on SBE but it is up a ways from the beach is the Allmanda - more like apts - there is a pool and a restaurant. Hope this helps, Jamie
