Anguilla

We are planning a trip to Anguilla in March! We like the shoal Bay Beach area . Any suggestions ???
Ku Hotel looks good as does Shoal Bay Villas. Meads Bay also looks beautiful but it appears
more built up. Any information is greatly appreciated.

I love Anguilla--to the tune of 5 trips in 24 months! Once we stayed at Ku, and while I LOVE the Shoal Bay East area and visit it several times during any Anguilla vacation, I would not stay at Ku again. If all you care about is an inexpensive room right on the beach, it's fine. But if you're looking for good service, amenities, or other value-added comforts, look elsewhere.

I've also stayed on Meads Bay, and while there are more places to stay directly on Meads, it tends to be less crowded overall than in front of the hotels on SBE.

We tend to rent villas, as we love having the larger personal space and the cooking facilities. If you think you want to be near SBE, take a look at La Vanda villa, which is a short walk from the beach--about 2 minutes. It's a studio villa on the property of the larger and more luxurious Bellamare Villa, which sits at the crest of Upper Shoal Bay.

Thanks for your recommendation. We have 3 in our party,my husband and my self and our 12 year old son. so La Vanda would be too small for us. We absolutely loved Meads Bay villas but they were 1000.00 a night. Looking to spend 600.00 or less. Can't wait to see Anguilla! Any other suggestions on where to stay or things to do is much appreciated!

I like staying on Meads Bay. It's not built up at all. Actually, nothing on Anguilla is overly developed.

Did you take a look at Carimar Beach Club? I haven't stayed there but it's a well-kept property on a beautiful stretch of beach. It also fits your budget and offers 2 bedroom accommodations. March is high season so you'll be paying a premium regardless of where you stay.

Carimar would be perfect, I'd think. We stayed there on our first visit to Anguilla and were quite charmed with it. Their two bedroom rates are in your price range in March.

You should definitely also look at Anacaona, right on Mead's Bay, reasonable, great management. They have a wide range of different accomodations, including villas. http://anacaonahotel.com/

Technically Anacaona is just off Meads Bay and you have to follow a short path to get to the beach. Not a big deal, certainly, but I couldn't classify it as "right on Mead's Bay."

Anacaona recently got a face lift, as it was previously known as La Sirena. It didn't appeal to me then and it doesn't appeal to me now, but the new management does seem to have whipped it into place for this high season. Most of the units don't have kitchens, either. It does have a pool, though, which is usually appealing when traveling with children.

And speaking of pools on Meads, Turtle Nest is a semi-high rise, two-tower condo establishment with a pool, sitting directly on the beach at Meads. Their rates are very reasonable. I strongly prefer Carimar because the buildings at Carimar don't look tacky and the staff is wonderful, but there are plenty of folks who are dedicated to Turtle Nest. I just ain't one of 'em.

I am looking at the same places for the holiday period, but the Island seems to be stone cold sold out. Any suggestions?

Htrav, what is your nightly budget and what are your accommodation needs? Villa? Condo? Hotel? Resort? small inn?

I recently received an email about a new place on Shoal Bay East called Fountain Residences. Looks beautiful, and as it is just opening, may not be booked for the holidays. I don't recall the nightly rate for the holidays
