Anegada...Worth a Visit??

We will be on VG for 7 nights in August. Is a day trip to Anegada worth the expense? We would be mostly interested in snorkelling and/or diving?
Your thoughts are appreciated.

Only YOU can decide if something is "worth it" since it's your money.

For me, no trip to the BVI's is complete without a stop on Anegada.

While on Virgin Gorda, I did a day trip to Anegada with Dive BVI and loved it!. I am an avid snorkeler, but the beach from where we snorked was medicore at best. That being said, because of the reef, there are many wrecks that should be interesting. Tell personnel that this is what you want to see. In addition, the island is so sparcely populated that it is like a step back in time. Great casual restaurant also. Also close to VG is The Indians; it was the best snorkeling trip that I ever did. In addition are the caves of Norman Island which are excellent, and it is my understanding that the Dogs Islands are excellent for diving which I hope to do when I return.

We spent a day on Anegada during our trip to VG (Biras Creek) and loved it. The Cow Wreck bar (and beach) were like out of a movie. That said, Anegada is more of a beautiful beach/great beach bar/few crowds type of place as opposed to a great snorkeling destination. Agree with last Fodorite that the Indians and Norman Island more interesting for that. Check out bvipirate.com for good info on Anegada.

I think a day trip to Anegada is definitely worth in. Not so much for snorkeling but just to experience an ultra-laid back island. Have a swim, a walk on the beach, maybe a taxi tour, lunch or drink at the Big Bamboo. It is so different from the other BVI's. I have fond memories of my day trip to Anegada.

If you notice the comments they do not rave about the snorkeling. That is because it is fair at best. The trip on a sailboat and a lobster lunch is fun and the beach is expansive and the trip and lunch is about $150/person. We were disappointed because we were expecting godd or better snorkeling.
