Andy's car rental and camera rental

I have read quite a bit about car rental and have only become more confused...again, an overthinker, so this is the cross we overthinkers must bare.

Is Andy's a good place to rent a car? Well, I am reading some good and some bad...so we are thinking of perhaps going with another company. Is it best to get a car at the airport or in town? We'd like to stop at the grocery near the airport to get food on the way to Treasure Island...so at the airport is sounding good to us.

Any thoughts...

then, we were thinking of purchasing a cheap little underwater camera [under $200] but the guy at the scuba store says that to really get good photo's you need a camera with a flash that will disperse above the lens, so you don't get reflection from particles in the water so bad. I noted that there is a woman by the name of Carol [is that right] in a Cayman Islands Mag we have here at the library [I work there], has anyone ever rented a camera for underwater pics and how did that go. Do you have to buy film from her, or can you bring your own?

Thank you again, one and all for any help

We just got back from Grand cayman on Tuesday.

We rented a Jeep from Soto's 4X 4 right at the airport. Car was ready and exactly as advertised.

We then dropped our bags off and did our food shopping afterwards. We barely had enouhg room in the Jeep for our kids & luggage much less groceries.

Fosters in the Stradn shopping center (not too far from Treasure Island - but past it heading from the airport) is probably your best bet for groceries.

Have a great trip.

Donna

Hi. We had a bad experience with Andy's. I would not ever do business there again. The little 4 x 4 we had was undependable, and they knew it admittedly.

I'd try Soto's...

good luck and have a great time!
Thank you one and all for the good advice. I will call up Soto's right now and see what I can see.

Did you make your reservations with Soto's before you got there, or just go by when you got to the airport and picked up a car? Probably a goofy question, but we've only ever rented once before in Europe and am not too 'car rental' savvy.

Thank you again, Donna and Leeza.

Just got our snorkel equipment this week, and can't wait for April to get here.

Karen

Just got back Sat. nt. Can't help you with the camera but we rented a Honda Civic over the internet from Cico Avis at the airport. They quoted me almost $300 for the week at first. I told them that I had a cheaper rate from another company and they gave it to me for $195. Car was in excellent condition. No problems. I would suggest renting at the airport, then you don't have to pay to for a taxi to your condo. We don't do jeeps because I have had lots of skin cancer and have to avoid sun as much as possible. We stayed in a condo on the water so I could sit in the screened in balcony in the shade. Also had chickee huts on the beach for more shade. We grocery shopped at Fosters across from 7MB. Just like a US supermarket but very expensive. Have fun.
