American Airlines vs. US Air?

So, Air Jamaica canceled our trip to Jamaica, so we are rebooking to St. Thomas instead. Staying at the Wyndham. Flight delimna between AA and US Air. AA is $200 higher and flight times not as good. Would immendiatly just book US Air except for the stunt employees pulled during the holidays. Would hate to get to the airport and find I have no flight.

How is US Air doing now? Would you book the cheaper flight with good flight times on US Air and just hope for the best or pay the additional price with not so good flights times on AA, who seems a little more reliable?

Hi, we just returned from a 10 day vacation, NO, and a cruise. Flew US Air with not any serious problems or issues. We are going away in March and I will still book with US Air. They will be fine till June at least. We had a 1 hour delay both going and coming but just waiting for a plane no issues with luggage at all. Go with US Air and put the extra $$$$ towards your vacation. That is what I would do.

We were in the airport in San Juan waiting for our American Airlines connection to Barbados on the day that Panam pulled the plug with no warning. Their passengers had to scramble to find a flight. We flew AA wihout a hitch. Bet on American's reliability-they've proven themselves-the most stable airline over many years.

I personally prefer AA in general, but in terms of coverage in the Caribbean I don't fly anything else. I wouldn't feel comfortable flying USAir at any time, tomorrow or in a few months. With American and their full coverage of the region, if for some reason you miss a single leg of your flight, AA will get you to your destination or back home again sooner because they have that many more other flights to rebook you on.

Clearly all airlines have their problems right now, and there's nothing saying that USAir won't be operating smoothly for your upcoming trip. I've always been a frequent flyer on Northwest and American, so naturally I would choose AA over USAir anyway, so take my words with as many grains of salt as you wish.

I flew US Air into St. Thomas for the first time this past November. I was well pleased. The flight was on time and the service was excellent.
I have had problems with American Eagle on several occasions. and will not use them unless absolutely necessary; however, this was several years ago.

I agree with diann. I would use the extra $$$ on something fun on your trip.
