Allegro Resort
 

I am planning to travel to T&C in April 1999 and was thinking of staying at the Allegro, formerly, Turqouise Reef. Wondering if anyone may have explored their new renovations, also have never stayed at any Allegro Resort would like to know if their general standards are good.

Stayed at Allegro Resort in Cozumel in May. Outstanding resort. Dinner was buffet, or in a Italian, or Mexican ala carte restaurant. Allegro definitely made a good resort better when they bought it. <BR>

I stayed at an Allegro resort in Cancun. It was rated a 4 * hotel, but the way Allegro ran it, it beat out some of the 6* resorts I've stayed at. I was in T&C in March, while it was still Tur Reef, the property had a lot of potential for the right resort company to take it over. I commented at that time that I would love to come back and stay there once Allegro took it over.

I stayed at allegro cozumel end of Jan.97. It's definately rated correct a four star. The upstair rooms are the best the vaulted ceilings give the room a larger effect, though there is virtually no sound proofing. Two pools, one a quite pool & the other an activity pool. Beach great and snorkeling right from the beach good. We had continental breakfast brought to our room each morning. There always seemed to be a place you could get food, even at 1:00am Only one thing that could improve the resort is if you could pick up the phone and make a reservation at the mexican or italian restaurants, unfortunately one of us had to line up at 7:00 each morning to guarantee a seat that night. The italian restaurant was the best and if you were lucky to get an outside table you could watch the excellent entertainment that the staff put on each night.

<BR>your best bet would be next door at beaches as they have the whole thing down pat .you can fly R/T from most major cities like baltimore,phila., for 100 dollars.

Have been to both Puerto Vallarta & Cozumel Allegro resorts. They are outstanding. Food is excellent for being buffet style & the activities crew is great. After a couple of days at each, they were calling me by my first name. I will only stay at Allegro from now on. Plus, the price is right compared to other all-inclusives. Go for it!

I am also considering Allegros Resort in Turks & Caicos in June 1999. Anyone know how the renovations are going? Are they done yet? If not, when will they be done?

Stayed at the Turquoise Reef Resort in T&C. It is the best beach and shore snorkelling if have experienced and I have been to 10 Carribean islands. It is a great place with a huge beach. The water drops off repidly. About 5' deep, 8 feet out. Snorkelled for sand dollars one morning and found 15 just off shore near the peer. Swam with a dolphin one day. Stood on a brain corral that was 20' in diameter. Walked to the White house with is 40 minutes walk and saw eagle rays and green turtles in the water. Shoul I go on. The resort was great when it was Turquiose reef and Allegro put 30 Million into it. <BR> <BR>I would stay at Corral Gardens. There is more to do in the water. Hope you can handle 20 people a day walking by you, and that's id the beach traffic is heavy. Go to Sapodilla Bay when you are there. <BR>

We just returned from 2 weeks in T & C - I'd go back in a heartbeat. They were moving right along on Allegro, and were suppose to start having guests the middle of Jan so you should be safe. It is an incredibly beautiful beach. Besides snorkeling at the White House, there is also Smith Point Reef near Turtle Cove. Have fun! <BR>
