Allegro or Royal West Indies or OCW or Sands?

My husband and I would like to go to T&C at the end of March for 1 week and would like suggestions to a pretty decent resort. We want minimal kids and definitely on a great beach?
Thanks for your help

Hi Petula,
Any of the resorts you listed, with the exception of Allegro, are very nice. Allegro is pretty old and in the process of being sold, so I wouldn't recommend it. They are all on Beautiful Grace Bay, so the beach is pretty much the same. You might want to also consider the original OC, as it is at the end of the beach and a little less crowded. You shouldn't have much trouble with children at that time, except maybe some small ones, as it is not a Holiday week. Hope this helps, you will love T & C.

Provogirl is right - the Allegro seemed very run down when we peeked in last spring. We stayed at the Sands and loved it. It's not 5 star like Point Grace & Grace Bay Club but maybe the next level down. Was very clean, new feeling -- people who worked there were very friendly and helpful -- not a lot of kids but a few. It's on a good part of the bay - next to Point Grace (which IS out on a bit of a point and the beach seemed very windy in front of it at all times). We would definitely go back -- hope to go again this year!

I would stay at the Sands. The other three are too close to Club Med. If not the Sands consider Ocean Club West

I would pick the Royal West Indies. There is nothing wrong with being next to Club Med. RWI is very very nice & the restaurant Mango Reef is excellent.

We stayed at The Sands in October annd loved it. We loved Turks and Caicos. I would recommend The Sands at Grace Bay, CLEAN, really nice rooms, friendly staff. WE really enjoyed our stayed at The Sands. We also stopped by in The Ocean Club West on our many walks on the beautifull beach and The Ocean Club West is beautiful....Alot of Lush Gardens, comparable to The Sands, but I have to admit it peaked our interests by the quick look we had...would consider trying The Ocean club West when we return one day.

We have decided to stay at RWI in an oceanfront room.
I emailed the Sands a week agao and they have yet to get back to me but I am very happy with our choice...the noise from Club Med will not bother us at all.
Thanks for all your help...if you have any other suggestions about T&C I would greatly appreciate it.

Good choice Petula, RWI is a beautiful property and the rooms are lovely. Don't worry about Club Med next door, it is a huge property and very spread out. Be sure to try Coco Bistro, Bella Luna and Gecko Grille(at OC) while you're there, they are not far from RWI. Most places have a shuttle to take you to different restaurants, taxis are very expensive! Or you could rent a car for a couple of days to have a look around. Also you might try Calico Jacks and Barefoot Cafe at Ports of Call shopping plaza, very close to RWI and both good and reasonable. Have a great trip!

Thanks for your help...we will be sure to check out some of the restaurants you suggested.
Are there any "must do's" in provo? Our main focus will be on relaxing but it's always good to see some sights or anything that might be of interest.
Should we rent a car for a couple days?
Thanks again.

Hi Petula, I think renting a car for a few days is a good idea, as taxis are very expensive. If you get a 4 wheel drive you can go almost anywhere, some of the roads(make that Most of the roads) are pretty bad. You can also go to the IGA and pick up some supplies for your room, eating out for all meals can get pricy. Some hotels have shuttles that go to the IGA several days a week, so check with them. As far as other activities, J & B Tours is very good, as is Sail Provo, just depends what you want to do. They will both come and pick you up right in front of RWI, you just hop on the boat. Turtle Cove Landing and Marina is nice to visit, lots of nice restaurants and some shops. It's a little far from you if you don't have a car. Tiki Hut for chicken and ribs on Wed night is great,$9.99! Also Sharkbite is great for lunch and a drink, right on the water.
I'll be going back down in 4 weeks myself, can't wait! Have fun!
