Allegro Jack Tar Village

We are planning a trip to St. Kitts in July. And we are looking at staying at the Allegro Jack Tar Village. Any advise on the resort or island?
It's no longer Allegro but you can get more info at www.stkitts-nevis.com... Scroll down to the bottom and you will see the NG. There is a bunch of "comments" in there.

Dear Sir,
I am a Travel agentin Florida, I too am planning to go to St kitts in august, according to Jack Tar village they are still a member of allegro and occidental Hotels, and plan on being at least for the rest of this year since the offer for me is to visit anytime this year at any allegro resort including jack tar on st Kitts, thanks.

I stayed at this hotel in the fall of 1999. I really liked the hotel and loved the island.

The island is not overrun with tourists although there is a definite tourist trade. The residents are friendly and helpful to the tourists. There is basically no shopping (great for the pocketbook). There are a variety of day trips available (trips to Nevis, island tours, etc.). Some great beaches. I especially enjoyed the island tour and the catamaran trip on the Eagle to Nevis.

The JTV is across the road from the beach. And there was another complex being built between the road and the beach. There was shuttle offered to another near-by beach. The rooms were large and well furnished. The staff were generally friendly. The buffet was kept fairly varied, esp. the main courses. I preferred the buffet to the sit down restaurant -- the service was extremely slow, beautifully presented but rather tasteless. The food at the buffet, however, was generally very tasty.

I hope you have as good a time as I did!
