Hi, My husband and I are planning a 30 anniversary trip in July. We want all inclusive , Not Dominican Republic or Mexico-heard about crime and DR has a Cholera alert from CDC.
We have been to Nassau, Bahamas several times and want something different. We are not worried about having families with children however we are in our 50's and 60's and don't want to be the oldest couple there! We are not into too many sports so Golf is not a priority. The last cruise we took I developed Sea sickness and vertigo and don't fathom a repeat of that experience. We would be traveling from BWI airport.
any help or suggestions would be appreciated, Thank you in advance for your help

The tourist areas of Mexico are NOT where the "crime" is taking place. There are so many fantastic all inclusive resorts in the Playa del Carmen area. Don't be so quick to rule it out.

to really give you any useful advice we need to know how you want to spend your time and a speific idea of you hotel budget.

How about the out islands of the Bahamas? There are some great places to stay.

Palm Island in the Grenadines is the best AI that we have ever been to and has some nice features. We also will not do Mexico or the DR. Additionally I get seasick and have vertigo, so I can sympathize with you. PI is an island with a number of people in their 50's and 60's so you will fit right in. We do snorkel in the Tobago Cays, but I sit in the middle of the boat on the way there and back. This is a excursion that costs extra, but is fun. The food at PI is very good and we start out every night going to the bar to have a pre-dinner drink and appetizers. The botanical stroll is interesting. You may be interested in eating at the heart for your anniversary dinner. (This is an extra charge). They do a tea every day from 4pm to 5pm and serve sandwiches, tea and desserts. It is alittle bit of a break during the day. They also do a chef demo on Wed, but that is the day that we always fly in and we always miss it! Next time! BTW, this is the only place we have ever been to where I am in love with the beach. We live on a lake, so have our own beach here. However, PI has a wonderful tropical beach and is part of the escape. Enjoy your anniversary!

Most of the really great AI's will be located in the Riveria Maya/Playa del Carmen area of Mexico.

Look at the Couples resorts in Jamaica. The Marriott has several hotels in various destinations with an AI plans. There are a few AI's in Aruba.

Since AI's in the Caribbean are quite limited you might do a google search for "AI hotels in the Caribbean" and see if you find anything that appeals to you and then you can come back and ask specific questions about it.

Jamaica has a lot of all-inclusives. We just got back a couple of weeks ago from Iberostar Grand in Montego Bay. We can't wait to go back. It's adults only and we saw all ages. I can post more information if you're interested. The Iberostar web site is really poor and it's hard to get information.

We've only started going to AI's in the last couple of years. We've mostly hit except for where we stayed last fall and that was a definite miss, despite the glowing reviews on Trip Advisor. We would not go back to Galley Bay in Antigua. But I agree with schmerl that if you stay in the Playa del Carmen area of Mexico you should be fine. They are trying very hard to keep crime out with road blocks, soldiers patrolling the beaches, etc. If this doesn't bother you then there are some very nice places to stay and your money goes a little farther in Mexico. Don't go to Mazatlan, however, where there HAS been some crime.
