all inclusive or not

My husband and I are going to Aruba in July to celebrate out tenth year anniversay. We are debating whether to get an all-inclusive package at either the Divi-Divi or Aruba grand Beach Resort & Casino. Which would your recommend?
I'm under the impression that the Aruba Grand is in the middle of a strip of hotels and that we could go check out the other locations by foot whereas the Divi is further away. Is this correct? We do not plan on renting a vehicle.

Also, should we bother to go all-inclusive? My husband and I are what you would consider heavy drinkers and thought the All inclusive would be better for drink purposes. I hear that the drinks and meals are pricey in Aruba? Around how much?
Thanks in advance

The Divi is totally all-inclusive and the Aruba Grand has the option of being all-inclusive (but check to make sure their AI includes drinks). The Aruba Grand (not to be confused with the Occidental Grand Aruba) seems to attract an older clientele and is a very quiet resort. But, yes with the Aruba Grand you would be able to walk to all the high rise hotels.

Contact Travel Unlimited http://www.travelunlimited.com (they specialize in Aruba) and also have some packages that include full buffet breakfast and drinks only plans. Drinks are pricey in Aruba but we don't find restaurants that much different in price than going out to eat nicely at home. Also, you are not limited to pricey places as you will find restaurants in all price ranges.

We just got back from our honeymoon in February at the Tamarijn (the Divi's sister hotel) and we were disappointed with both the food and the bar. The bar only has draft beer and no-name liquor. We did not particularly love the food and ended up going out to eat several times (which is such a waste after paying for the all-inclusive). The Divi was nicer than our hotel though because it had just undergone renovations. The hotels were not nearly as nice as some of the resorts on Palm Beach like the Hyatt and Wyndham.

My husband and I went to Aruba for our honeymoon in 2000. And we stayed at the Divi Village (time share—my parents have gone there for 10 yrs). The beach at that end is very nice...much quieter. We then stayed an additional 3 days in Palm Bach at the Allegra all-inclusive .....we were so disapointed. We enjoyed some great meals all week and then had to look at cafeteria style foods. We actually skipped the all-inclusive dinner and paid to go out instead. We are drinkers too but beleive me, it's not worth it. You'll miss the flavor of the island if you do. Don't miss the "Flying Fishbone" (you can eat with your feet in the sand and watch the sunset). You'll have a great time!

DON'T GO ALL-INCLUSIVE!

We decided not to go to Aruba after all. Thanks for all your help. I was actually leaning towards the Divi Divi. I would have been very disappointed if the food and drink were not very good.
