All inclusive ideas

My husband and I are celebrating out 10 year wedding anniversary this year. We want to go to the Caribbean in August. We know we want an all inclusive and a 4 hours flight from Boston. We do not want large resorts (the big buildings).

Can anybody suggest ideas for a smaller resort with a spa? Preferably without kids. (we are leaving 2 behind!)

I don't know if going out of Boston you would have a direct flight or a 4 hour flight to somewhere in the Caribbean. Many flights change planes in Miami or Atlanta depending on your carrier. So, for the Islands closest to the US border that would offer a small AI, I would suggest Cozumel. Look at Aura Cozumel Wyndham Grand Bay. Or Jamaica. Look at the Couples Resorts or Sunset at the Palms. The Reef Resort on Grand Cayman offers an AI meal plan, and is off the beaten path, but is not adults onlt and I don't believe they have a spa. Outside of Mexico, Jamaica and the DR, it gets more difficult to find an AI hotel and a smaller one at that is really difficult. Might also look at Antigua - Galley Bay, Grand Pineapple Beach, Hawksbill by Rex Resorts, St. James's Club, or The Verandah Resort & Spa. Aruba is a 5 hour direct flight from Houston, TX. Don't know about your departure point. Look at the Divi, Manchebo, Amsterdam Manor or the Tamarijn.

August is prime hurricane season, so do buy the trip/hurricane insurance that you can cancel for any reason and not just if your hotel closes or your flight is canceled. If you choose Aruba, there is a lesser chance for hurricanes on that Island.

I highly recommend Galley Bay, Antigua or Palm Island in the Grenadines. Both are Elite Island Resorts and are wonderful places.

I've been to Excellence Punta Cana and loved it. Very good service, good food, nice beach.
We upgraded to the Excellence Club. Not too sure it was worth it.
