airfare to Aruba - what's a good deal???

Hi.
We are traveling from Atlanta to Aruba in mid-June. The best deal we are seeing right now is about $750/person, $1500 total. When should we expect to start seeing some deals, if at all??? Any suggestions?
Thanks!

I'm surprised that Aruba is that expensive in June. My experience is that much of the Caribbean is pricey this year for air. We paid $725 each for a trip last week to Cayman. Barbados in February was just over $1000 for coach.

Does Vacations Express still fly out of ATL? We used them to Aruba 4 years ago via ATL and they were a good value then.

check Travelocity and USAIRWAY E-savers. We paid $350 last year from Baltimore.

I've done quite a bit of reading on airfares to Aruba (it's my favorite destination) and it is my understanding that even though Atlanta is geographically closer to Aruba flights out of the Northeast are less expensive. Something to consider is if you buy dirctly from the airline and you see prices drop you can call the airline and they will issue you a credit.

Good luck and enjoy Aruba!

Well, we went ahead and booked a package deal, air and hotel. When it all shakes out I think the airfare was somewhere around $600/person. Still seems high for a direct flight from ATL, but oh well, we got the accomodations we wanted. Always tricky playing the "waiting for the airfare to drop" game. I agree w/ nfahey, ATL is geographically closer but for some reason the flights out of NE seems cheaper. Thanks to all for the info.
