abacos?
Hello,
We are arriving in Nassau on a Wednesday and leaving on a Monday. We got dirt cheap airfare and decided to check out the Bahamas, as we've never been. I originally thought we could just stay at Nassau, but from reading some comments it sounds like that might not be the best idea. We are divers, snorkelers, love the beach, etc.. Is five nights enough time to go to Abacos? I looked at a few sites that showed ferry/flight times and it looks like things generally leave in the morning, but we won't be getting there until the afternoon. Is there somewhere else that might be better to go to? I'm picking up a travel guide today at the bookstore, but thought I'd check with fodor's forums as they always seem to provide good suggestions. Thanks! |
I am going to Marsh Harbor in February. When I started planning the trip a Fodorite suggested I check out

Thanks for the link. We aren't going until March, so maybe you can give me some good tips :) Thanks again.

I will post a trip report. A friend is loaning us a house for a week, but we are sure to try out restaurants

5 nights in Abacos would be quick but sufficient. We visited last year after our daughter was born and went for 4 night 5 days. We stayed at Hopetown Harbor lodge on Elbow cay (casual accomodations). Abacos is perfect for nice beaches, island hopping, and great snorkelling (we don't dive). The water is beautiful and you may be the only ones on the beach. Day trip to Guanna Cay was awesome (more nice beaches). We did a snorkelling trip to Fowl Cay and saw a ton of fish and very pretty coral. Highly recommend going to Abacos over Nassau.
