A Mid February Trip
 

Hey all - I was thinking about planning a mid Ferbuary trip this year to Bermuda ... any thoughts about Fabian/re-building or weather that I should be concerned with?

We are in East PA - so I thought that this would be a nice 2 hour flight get-a-way for a 4 day weekend.

Will there be activities open then? i.e. the dolphin swim and horseback riding?

According to Weather.com, the average high temperature in February is 68 degrees. That is pleasant for walking around, but a bit cold for swimming with dolphins!

You must remember that Bermuda is off the coast of North Carolina and does not have a tropical climate. Thus, while the weather will be fine for being outdoors, sightseeing, golf, etc., it will likely not be swimming/beach weather. As for Fabian, I was actually there when the hurricane hit, and the damage was devastating. You should check with the hotels you are considering to see if their repairs are finished. As for the dolphins, you can check the website, dolphinquest.org, to see if they'll be operating.

I just returned from a wonderful week in BDA. I go nearly every year in Dec. The weather in Feb will be iffy. Check with the hotel you book to determine if there is a guarantee of minimum temp or you get a free night (some hotels offer this). The dolphin swim (they issue wetsuits) and the horseback riding were open in Dec. Check with www.bermudatourism.com for information sources.
If you are looking for a really nice private hotel consider Fourways. It is a small property with some harbor views...not oceanfront. They deliver an elegant breakfast of fresh fruit and homebaked pastries...plus a huge pot of coffee. Gets the day off to an incredible start.
My favorite restaurants are Ascots, La Coquille and Waterloo House. All are high end so consider going for lunch and having something light for dinner (all the Fourways units have kitchenettes).

In Feb.,dolphins & horses wear coats in Bermuda. If you're still in the planning stage; go further south. Go to the caribbean. Most places are about 3 hours from Philly.grand Cayman,Jamaica,St Thomas,etc
