$99 a night rate at Fairmont Southhampton Bermuda

Okay I had to pay for the airfares and could not get my fflyer miles, but even those prices were decent. Thanks so much cmcfong! We would not have gone to Bermuda for a very long time because of cost and now we are going!! Yeah!!

If anyone is trying to book this, I called the hotel directly and some nights I wanted were not available at this rate. I logged onto expedia and the entire period was available there.

I got the $99 rate on the internet, travelgirl2. It is good to know there are alternatives! Thrilled this is something all of us can take advantage of!

Darn, great call but we just missed it. They didnt have the week we could do it, but Aug 16th is available for 5 nights at $129.

It seems that after we booked our week, I justtried to see if they had another room for the same week and nope. So, it looks like they are only marking down very few rooms each week. But what a great deal! I am so glad we were all able to benefit from this .Thanks again cmcfong!

Did you see the tip travelgirl had about using expedia if the calling line didn't work? My booking was on the Fairmont site (and there are quite a few bargains at their other properties there as well). I keep thinking with all the money I save on lodging I can spend quite a bit of time at the Willow Stream spa.......

I wasn't actually really looking for another room,but I wanted to see if there would be more rooms available.
I never thought of looking at other Fairmonts...hmmm.... I think talking DH into one trip is enough for now! :)

I haven't been on here much in the last few days - so I'm behind in reading these posts. It looks like they were only taking bookings through yesterday. Of course, it also said they were only taking them for stays through August, so unless we wanted to do our anniversary a little early - I would have been unable to book anyway.

I just wanted to add to this discussion that the discount offer from Fairmont is very enticing; however I stumbled on this comment dated March 26, 2009 in a Trip Advisor review about all sorts of charges added to the final bill that you should be aware of:

"All I wanted to say was be wary of your bill at check out. I booked the current deal for the 400 Anniversary of the island's inhabitation which came with a $100/night resort credit which can be used against the room rate. My quoted room rate was $239/night for 4 nights + 7.25% room tax for a Fairmont room...fair enough, use the $400 and that's a good deal by any standards.

We charged a fair bit of stuff to the room like drinks, food and spa treatments so had a lengthy bill at cheque out but were amazed to see the following:-

1. $17.33/night room local tax (fair enough, that's the 7.25% as advertised)
2. $18/night Southampton resort levy
3. $1.31/night room local tax (yes, again)
4. $20.40/night Room gratuities

The 'extras', i.e 2,3 and 4 when all said and done added $158.84 to our bill that we didn't expect and they didn't advertise. After 2 days of both my girlfriend and I trying to get a hold of 'Accounts receivable', constantly getting voicemail and twice leaving a message with contact detail, my girlfriend gave up trying and called the GM and left a message there...lo and behold an hour later 'Accounts receivable' call...what a shocker.

Anyway after much 'tude, it was explained that the 'Room gratuity' is actually $10.20/person/night (so $20.40/night for us) and was used to tip bellmen, valet and housekeeping. No one told us that so we had already tipped these people. The arrogant and rude lady in Accounts proceeded to inform that front desk would definitely have told us this....well, they didn't. So beware.

After much toing and froing, the $160 has been removed. We are far from tight and like most folks don't enjoy complaining but we both felt like we'd been mugged so wanted to follow it through; $160 extra equates to 15.5% of our original room rate...that's a significant set of 'manadatory' charges to be hiding from guests, no?? God forbid you have a family of 4 in a room!!"

Knowing, the offer link is still there so give it a shot. Remember I booked for Dec despite the statement that it was only available through August and another person booked for next March.
Karen, Bermuda does tax visitors heavily and most of the properties add a service charge to the bill (10-15%). The resort fee is not mentioned on my reservation confirmation so I will be sure to ask about the charges so I understand them. thank you for the heads up.

I called the Fairmont and requested a breakdown of additional charges to the $99 rate

Rates do not include any meals nor:

> 1) Occupancy tax of 7.25% of the rate
> 2) Resort levy of $ 9.65 per person per night
> 3) Gratuity of $ 10.20 per person per night for maids and

It looks like the promotion is over. I clicked on the link to check for a friend and it is no longer advertised.
I will take Bermuda and the taxes. Even with the extra 20-30 per night in taxes, the room is a bargain for such a nice hotel. Congrats to all of us for getting it. :)
