8 am flight out of Barbados.....anyone done it?
 

I would really really prefer to not have an 8 am departure, but if we go it is with FF seats and it seems (so far) it is 8 a.m. or not at all :(

How complicated is it leaving Barbados at 8 a.m.? Will we have to be at the airport at 5 a.m.?

We always leave on that 8:00 AM American flight, although a few times it's been delayed. I hate when the airlines do that. You bust your butt to get to the airport and then you sit around waiting...oh well...rant over.

I've done it many times. Don't get there too early. Plan to arrive between 6 and 6:30. I think the airport opens at 6:00. Don't forget the departure tax. You have to pay that at the counter..$15 US.

They'll hand check all the bags, but it goes pretty quickly.

Bring something to eat, there's not much there.

I thought we all decided that no one should go to Barbados! I mean there are BLACK people there!

If you want to eat at the airport, eat before you go through to departures. There is a restaurant up the stairs whic was ok.

We've done it many times. Definitely get there 2 hours in advance. At 6 am you will see lots of people arriving. I don't agree that their hand checking of everything goes quickly -- that's what takes the longest. Even though you check your luggage they go through "everything" in your suitcase by hand for every passenger.

8 AM FLIGHT IS NO PROBLEM---LIKE SOMEONE STATED GET THERE @ 6:30-6:45---BUT CALL THE NIGHT BEFORE AA IS NOTORIOUS FOR BEING " NOT ON TIME !!"

It is not the AA flight, it is a Delta codeshare on Continental I think.

Hope it's not too hard to arrange a taxi at that hour...

Get the hotel to organize a taxi the night before. Remember you are not the only one who will travel at that time, and Taxi drivers are all keen to do business.

And geez, 8 am departure is not that early.

Dunno about you, but I don't aim to get up at 4:30 or 5 a.m. on vacation ;)

if it was my only choice I would just have to grin and bear it..
