7-Mile Beach vs. Grace Bay
Okay, despite the condos on 7-Mile Beach, do you think both of these beaches are really equivalent beauty-wise, clarity, etc.?
|
Haven't been to 7MB but lots of other places and I can tell you that Grace Bay Beach is the most gorgeous I have ever seen. I thought the beaches in Aruba were really nice but Grace Bay was even better. The sand is like powder, the water turquoise and clear and you can walk for miles and there are long stretches that are deserted. Yes, there has been some building but there is still lots of undeveloped land. It was fabulous!

Rick,
Haven't been to Grace Bay, but I've been to 7MB many times and I think it's one of the best. I have also heard that both Grace Bay and 7MB are rated in the top 5 of Caribbean beaches, so really it's just a matter of preference! I prefer the Caymans to Provo!
Sandy
|
Sandy, if you had been to provo you would have been to Grace Bay. Why are you replying? 7mb is now a tourist trap compared to Grace Bay. Just a matter of time for Grace Bay...
|
Exactly.
If you have been to provo, you have been to Grace bay.
I stayed at beaches, so that ruined it a little, but the beach was the best water and the best sand ive seen.
|
We have not been to 7 mile beach but Grace Bay is absolutely beautiful.
|
Rick, I can't comment on 7MB (we are actually considering next holiday there)but as for Grace Bay....WOW! IMHO, the nicest Caribbean beach. Quiet, fairly little development...does get a bit busy by Beaches and Club Med area. As poster above mentioned, the sand is absolutely incredible-soft and fine like powdered sugar. We'd highly recommend Provo.
|
This is a great question - but the answers are even better. Notice: of the people that has commented, few has seen both places. That's good, because niether have I (been the Provo).

There are two gorgeous caribbean beaches with the name of "Seven Mile Beach". The first is Negril, Jamaica and and second is in Grand Cayman . You can't go wrong with either, since both are listed highly on anyone's 'top ten' beaches. Truth is, these are very similar beaches in length, clarity, calmness, sand (color and cleanliness) and great sunsets.

Cayman's 7MB is much quieter with no nudity, no music, no bars, no anoying venders, no night-life and no local culture (art/music/food). Negril's 7MB is the total opposite in every category.

Funny! We have been to 7 mile beach in Jamaica numerous times and I just thought of Caymens for some reason!!

7 mile beach in Negrl is rated one of the best in the Caribbean.

Hi Rick. I've been to both 7 Mile Beach on Grand Cayman and Grace Bay Beach on Provo. Both beaches are extraordinary but I might have to give a SLIGHT edge in the beach itself and the beautiful turquoise water to Grace Bay. But since both beaches are wonderful you should probably focus on the islands themselves before making a decision. Grand Cayman is a bit more developed than Provo and seemed a little more tourist savvy than Provo. Provo is clearly in the midst of a big development boom (I was there last November) although it still has a lot of undeveloped beachfront. There is no real town to speak of on Provo and the restaurants, with the exception of a couple which were very good, were mostly average. There is a town on Grand Cayman, hence more shopping, and the restaurants are very good to excellent. Grand Cayman isn't known as a bargain spot so it's likely you will spend more money on GC. The islands are very different from each other and since both 7 Mile and Grace Bay are both superb you should pick based on other factors important to you. I don't think you would be disappointed in either of the beaches.
Sharona, I've been to Maundays Bay in front of Cap Juluca. Do you still think I would be impressed with both Grace Bay and 7-Mile Beach? Thanks!
|
Alan: Although I have been to Anguilla we did not visit Maundy's Bay since when we were there Cap Juluca was undergoing renovation from hurricane damage and the guards wouldn't let you close to the property. But from what I know of the other beaches in Anguilla I would say that yes, you would still be impressed with both 7 Mile and certainly Grace Bay. Just be aware that 7 Mile is a bit developed but still lovely with mostly wide stretches of beach and fine white sand. And of course the water, as it is in Provo, is crystal clear. I believe 7 Mile Beach is mostly straight while Grace Bay has a decided curve. But again, I think you need to look at the islands themselves as they are very different in terms of services and amenities.

As far as Anguilla is concerned, I believe Shoal Bay, not Maundy's Bay is the gem of the island with several stunning beaches. Yes, I would put Shoal Bay up against any beach this side of Bali or Bora Bora!

As a matter fact, Shoal Bay, Negril, 7Mile Grand Cayman and Trunk Bay, St.John, make up probably the top 4 of the best beaches in the caribbean. Note: I have not yet seen Grace Bay.
