25th Anniversary: Grace Bay Club?

My husband and I are Caribbean travellers of many years and destinations, but we mostly gravitate back, again and again, to Cap Juluca on Anguilla. We go in march (spring break) with our tween kids. We are thinking of celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary in July over a long weekend somewhere new (and without kids!) and many have suggested Turks and Caicos. I have read many posts on this forum extolling the Somerset, but my friends (and travel agent) are adamant that we would prefer Grace Bay Club. We want our room to be as close to the beach as possible (must be ocean view.) We want to be on Grace Bay (Parrot Cay and Amanyara (spelling?) are too remote.) So - can devotees of T&C weigh in on where we should stay?

I have been to Anguilla about 7 times, been to T&C more than 20, and stayed at almost every resort.

without knowing much about you, you can't go wrong with any of the resorts at Grace Bay--they just each have different personalities.

to equate it, I find somerset more similar to Cap Jaluca, Grace Bay Club is more similar to a Four Seasons or Cuisinart--does that make sense? For me, Cap is a more quiet resort, Cuisinart more active, both are nicely luxurious and upscale.

No secret here-I love the atmosphere of The Somerset. I liked Grace Bay Club, but I personally love The Somerset more. I love the furnishings more at Somerset, and find for the different price points, you get a little more at Somerset for the money.

Please tell me more, about what you like, might help narrow it down.

Thank you for responding so quickly! What I love best about Cap is the fact that you walk right out of your villa and are on that beautiful beach. But it is a quiet resort, and we always left the resort for dinner. Plus, because we go there with kids, nightlife is never a priority. For just the two of us we probably could use a bit more nightlife. Mostly, we don't want a resort that is more like a high rise, or where accomodations are far from the beach (even if ocean view.) Based on the websites alone, if we stayed at Somerset I think we would want Stirling House (we would really want the Estate, but the spaces are larger than we would need.) At Grace Bay, we would choose the Hotel. We are not huge fans of Cuisinart, but do like Four Seasons! Does that help?

Hello? Any more thoughts, Blamona or others? I would greatly appreciate your help!

We have stayed in The Sterling House at The Somerset and the view is to die for, at night with the pools lit up it is so beautiful. The Estate units are great as well and you can rent a 1 bedroom in those ( they shut the doors of the bedrooms) Like Blamona The Somerset is our favorite. More intimate than Grace Bay Club and restaurants within walking distance are excellent!

Thanks for your help - it sounds like we can't go wrong at the Somerset!Do you gain a better view from the Estate units, or is it just a bit closer to the beach?

From the Estate homes you are closer to the beach..at night I feel the Sterling is better as the resort is in front of you all lit up! On the Somerset website there may be a map.
www.thesomerset.com The front 2 Estate Homes are Ocean front , then there are 2 behind each of those. On the website , the 1st photo is the view down the pool from Sterling, the Estate Homes are on each side of the pool. Hope this helps.
