2018 Honeymoon

Hi all!

My wife to be and I will be traveling from Michigan on our honeymoon the first week of August and are having trouble deciding where to go. We traveled to St. John last year and absolutely loved it.

We are looking for an island that offers pristine beaches and great snorkeling like St. John did. We would also like to hike or do activities in a rain forest setting if possible. We are open to all ideas and really want to see the most beautiful beaches the caribbean has to offer.

Please let us know your favorite places to travel!

Ah, you do realize that some of the places you tagged were devastated by hurricanes in the Fall, right? That is not to say that tourists aren't starting to return....just something to keep in mind.

Of course, tourist dollars will help these areas rebuild. We have two friends who enjoy Anguilla every year. One switched his trip to DR and the other just made contact with their villa owner (after 3 months of messages). He is keeping his travel plans intact.

Look into Belize. Great snorkeling, rain forest, etc.

Also you'll want to check August weather for your short-list of possibilities.

I don't consider Belize beaches to be pristine! Actually most islands have better beaches. But it does offer world class snorkel/dive (some of the best) and hiking, etc

Catch 22--the flat non hiking beaches are the most scrumptious, (Anguilla, Turks and Caicos, etc) . The hilly islands offer the hiking, views, etc

So if looking at best beaches, consider Turks and Caicos. Or 1 of the Out Islands in Bahamas.

St. John is rare, hilly yet beautiful beaches, but in general the flatter island beaches blow everything else away! Just not very hikable
