From STT, take the ferry to St.John where you can snorkel off one of several of the Caribbean's most picture-perfect beaches. Try lunch at Caneel Bay Resort. On Martinique, don't miss St.Pierre, the town buried in Mont Pelee's eruption, the forest in the middle of the island, and Napoleon's Josephine's birthplace. On Grenada, take a personal tour via car/taxi of the island, one of the most spectacularly lush anywhere. Don't miss the nutmeg factory and St. Georges itself with its beautiful harbor.

In St. Georges, Grenada, I agree with xkenx. Take an island tour and see a spice plantation and one of the nutmeg processing stations. Also walk around the market in St. Georges. Don't forget to purchase some wonderful spice sacks. They are the freshest spices ever. Afterall, it is the isle of spice. :)

If you like chocolates, be sure and buy some Grenada Chocolate bars. Yummm!

In Martinique, I would recommend a half to 3/4 day taxi tour to the gorgeous Balata Gardens and the sleepy town of St. Pierre, destroyed by volcanic eruption in 1902. The little museum is fascinating. If you can, arrange this tour in advance because one can waste a lot of time at the dock haggling a decent price with the taxi drivers.

Wandering around colourful Fort de France is fun too - a great opportunity to snap up pate, cheeses, and wine for the same prices you would pay in France. I highly recommend a meal at La Cave A Vin, if time permits. You'd think you were in a Paris bistro.

It really helps if you can speak a bit of French.

This website is very helpful and well organized http://www.martinique.org/index.htm

I agree with xkenx about St. Thomas--St. John is outstanding. Lunch at Caneel Bay on the beach is great, and the snorkeling from the beach is top-notch. If you want a cheaper lunch, go to Trunk Bay, also great snorkeling. You can take a cab, rent a car, or take the "Jungle Bus" from the ferry dock in Cruz Bay.

If you want to stay on ST, the shopping is very good.

Phillipsburg the shopping is also good, but if you want to do something different, race the America's Cup Boats.

They take 20 non-sailors and give you a job. You actually race against another boat, sailing extremely fast and close to each other. It was a blast!

I'm sure your cruise line can arrange it for you.

In Roseau we went whale watching, and actually got quite close to the whales. Small whales, but it was a thrill.
