YUL to Old Montreal with kids

Good morning,

We will be arriving at YUL airport and need to get to Old Montreal where our hotel will be. We will be traveling with 18 month old twins. (!) What are the options for travel with kids per Canada rules? We don't plan to bring car seats as the kids will be in our laps on the flight and we hope to use public transportation while in Montreal. What are the rules for taxi? Uber? Is there a good bus or metro solution? We will be traveling light (luggage-wise, stroller and kids don't make it quite so light).

Thanks for your advice.

Also, is the Mon-Sun weekly metro pass the most economical option if visiting Sun-Sat? Are double strollers easily passable on the metro?

The bus from the airport into the city centre is numbered 747 but it definitely does not imitate a jetliner's speed. As a city service, rather than an express, it makes many stops, ending up eventually at the main terminal on the eastern side of downtown, far enough from your destination as to require a connection or cab. You can make your plans here: http://www.stm.info/en
The site also details the various passes. The $10 airport fare is included in 1- and 3-day passes. I usually buy the 3-day pass and put it on a permanent Opus card.
At the airport you will get your fare from a machine. In the city, drivers do sell single fares but only for coins (we use both $1 and $2 coins; smallest bill is $5.)
Sorry, I can't help about car seats for the kids.

Thank you - so if I am understanding correctly, there is not a great way to get directly from the airport to Old Montreal via bus or metro - the bus heads more into City Centre which is not so close to Old Montreal and will still require some other cab service (especially with luggage/kids in tow)?

I may start a separate thread about car seats and kids in Canada.
