Tilda, Kate, Laura,Dianne, and many good tv movie stars whose names I cannot remember.

laurieco Aug 5th, 2010 04:33 PM

Helen Mirren, Judy Dench, Kate Winslet. I loved Keira Knightley in "Atonement." All time favorites are Audrey Hepburn and Katherine Hepburn. And I like Angelina Jolie too. I first realized how good she was when I saw "Girl, Interrupted."

sicilyan Aug 5th, 2010 05:40 PM

Penelope Cruz the best. #2 Julia Roberts.#3 Angelina Jolie...

zelphiacat Aug 5th, 2010 05:41 PM

Oh! I also really like Cate Blanchette.

chepar Aug 5th, 2010 05:49 PM

Yep, Penelope Cruz and Johnny Depp are filming another Pirates of the Caribbean movie here in Hawaii, but I have not been lucky enough to spot anything Pirates related.

Did walk through the back part of the "Hawaii 5-0" set yesterday, though - but I don't know who any of the actors in that show are, so I wouldn't have recognized them if I saw them.

Gwendolynn Aug 5th, 2010 05:50 PM

Gloria Crahame !! Reminds me of my youth..she was wonderful in The Bad and The Beautiful and as Ado Annie in Oklahoma (tho I'd have preferred her predecessor in that role...Celeste Holm (see High Society and All About Eve)

Laura Linney is wonderful.... she was so evil in The House of Mirth.

hi shanticlinton
being such a new poster and all, it's a miracle you found the lounge so quickly! welcome :)

Mahya2 Aug 5th, 2010 05:54 PM

Angelina Jolie and Merryl Streep, and Sandra Bullock for comedies, yes.

Elizabeth Taylor was so gorgeous when she was younger-even middle aged before her back and pain aged and fattened her.
the best movie she ever did was Butterfield 8. I loved Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, but not in anything since..Well maybe the Pelican movie, but her eyebrows are terrible , like they tried to make them as wide as her mouth :D

Austin Aug 5th, 2010 05:57 PM

Joan Allen and Meryl Streep.

starrs Aug 5th, 2010 06:00 PM

Ah! Gwendolyn's post made me think of another one -
Jessica Tandy

tuscanlifeedit Aug 5th, 2010 06:05 PM

Doesn't anyone like Shirley Henderson? She has been my favorite for years.

I also like Amy Adams quite a bit. Her little Irish love movie was horrible, but everyone makes a horrible film. Mostly, I think she is terrific.

Tilda Swinton is great too. I used to love Helena Bonham Carter.

nanabee Aug 5th, 2010 06:19 PM

I really like the Swedish actress Noomi Rapace who plays Lizbeth Salander in the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

starrs Aug 5th, 2010 06:28 PM

Shirley Henderson? I had to look her up. Moaning Myrtle from Harry Potter?

The name made me think about Shirley Knight. I saw her on stage in Love, Loss and What I Wore - and loved her in it.

I like Amy Adams too and even liked the horrible Irish movie. LOVED her in Enchanted. I bought Charlie Wilson's War so I could see her in that again.

Mahya2 Aug 5th, 2010 06:40 PM

Drew Barrymore. She's adorable.

tuscanlifeedit Aug 5th, 2010 06:42 PM

Oh, she was so great in Enchanted.

Shirley has had quite a career, and lots of it was before Moaning Myrtle. She was a junkie operetta star in Topsy Turvy, Bridget Jones' buddy, a rival diva to Amy Adams in Miss Whatever Lives for a Day, and a big deal in UK indie movies for a couple of decades. Love her.

Eileen Atkins. An acting goddess.

RainyDay09 Aug 5th, 2010 07:58 PM

Zooey Deschanel
Tilda Swinton
Isabelle Huppert
Juliette Binoche (in french films, not in anything American)

maribethp Aug 5th, 2010 08:14 PM

OH, yes. Juliet Binoche and Frances McDormand, as well as Shelley Winters, who really owned the screen when she was in a film.

tonight on Netflix I watched a 20 year old film that starred
Helem Mirren, playing a prostitute. Her co-star in "Hussy" was John Shea whose a regular these days on Tv like Law and order or lifetime movies.

I love Zooey Deschanel, too. My latest fave however is Claire Danes. She was amazing in "Temple Grandin."

crefloors Aug 13th, 2010 04:22 PM

I have no favorites. It just depends on the movie. If the movie is good then who ever was in it becomes my "favorite" for a few days.

Just thinking who I think are good, Susan Sarandon, Meryl Streep...and I don't pay attention to Mamma Mia, she probably wanted to do something fun...Sandra Bullock, not because her films are so great, but I like her films, Meg Ryan for the same reason. Katherine Hepburn forever. Love her.
