White Point Beach Resort
 

Hello,<BR>I am doing a tour of Nova Scotia and am thinking about staying a few nights in the White Point Beach resort. Can someone who has stayed there give me your opinion of this place? Thanks!

I would highly recommend this spot! They have cabins which are really nice. Good food and great atmosphere!

Hi There;<BR><BR>I stayed here in April for a few nights. Some of the Cabins are very old and run down. Request to be put in the newer ones. Also the food here is fantastic!! Try the Plank Salmon.

I have reserved an ocean front cottage. Wendy or anyone else who has stayed there, are these the old run down ones or the newer ones? Thanks!

Hi Again;<BR><BR>We stayed in newer ones that were not oceanfront. I think they also have new oceanfront as well. I do know that some of the older ones are oceanfront. Please make sure to request a new one.

I just got back from wonderful NS trip where I stayed with my spouse 2 nights each in Wolfville, Halifax & White Point. Our last night was in Yarmouth to catch early ferry. We are in our early 40's.<BR><BR>White Point has an attractive beach, but I found my room (in the Main Lodge) and alot of the facilities very run down. <BR><BR>It is very much a family spot, which is nice if you have children with you, but where we didn't, I thought that it maybe was not the right place for us.<BR><BR>It's big so there's alot of people around, with waits to talk to desk people, etc. We were there high season too so it may not always be like that.<BR><BR>Everyone is different and has different situations, but for me, if I was to stay in the area again there is no question that my first choice would be the Quarterdeck in Summerville where we liked the beach, restaurant and atmosphere better.<BR><BR>One nice thing about White Point was the live entertainment in the bar on both the evenings we were there.

Hello everyone,<BR>OK, now I'm a little freaked out about White Point. My main concern is to have a very comfortable, clean cottage and also that the indoor pool is very nice. Can anyone at least comment on the pool? Maybe I should look at someplace more upscale in the same general area? I really want to be on the beach and with indoor pool so that may not provide for many choices. What do you think?! Thanks!! Piet.

It is possible that White Point is the ONLY place in the area with an indoor pool. The outdoor pool was not attractive/nice in my opinion. I only breifly went by the indoor pool and it seemed fine/nice, except that there were about 12 loud teens kind of taking over the whole indoor pool.<BR><BR>I probably did not see all the accommodation on the property but the oceanfront cottages that I walked by seemed to be of the older variety. I have no opinion on what they are like inside because I only walked past them. There newer looking units I saw were not oceanfront. I am sure the 800 number can give you details about your cottage.<BR><BR>Even in my rundown ocean view Lodge room, the best part was the view/sound being on right on the ocean, so I don't think you want to give that up.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm a little dazed and confused but I guess I'll stick with White Point for the indoor pool and hope for the best(although the Quarterdeck looks really nice!).<BR>Piet

For St. or anyone. What appealed to you about the Quarter Deck? Is it an upscale resort? What other upscale resorts in Nova Scotia appealed to you? I, like many others here, prefer the newer accomodations and I am not looking for anything with a pool however, we do want oceanfront.<BR>Did you go to PEI?<BR>Thank you.

K,<BR><BR>I generally don't think there are very many upscale resorts. I did not see them but Trout Point Lodge, Liscombe Lodge, The Pines, & Keltic Lodge may qualify. You can look up on the www.destination-ns.com site and search "resorts" in a particular area.<BR><BR>Quarterdeck actually seemed very laid back but clean, nice and casual with nice looking efficiency cottages right on a beautiful beach. I liked their restaurant too. They probably do not any resort features (no golf, pools, tennis, etc.).<BR><BR>I did not go to PEI.

Unlike the states, they're aren;t that many big resorts or hotels. Closer to Halifax you probably would find hotels with indoor pools. Rosewood on the Cove in Hubbards was beautiful. Right on the cove; small victorian type cottages with gazebo and outdoor pool. Just very picturesque. Might be too quiet for you though.
