Whistler to Jasper - How long a drive?

Could anyone tell me how long it would take to drive from Whistler to Jasper? We are planning to do this in July (without stopping overnight anywhere).

Thanks!

The drive is about 8 - 9 hours, so it can be done in a day, and it is a beautiful drive.

Shelagh, I am not sure the route you are recommending but if you stick to the main highways then I see the driving time as this:
Jasper to Kamloops 5 hours
Kamloops to North Vancouver 4 hours
North Vancouver to Whistler 1.5 hours

That would make a trip of 10.5 hours (without any stops for the dreaded road construction).

From Whistler, instead of driving back through Vancouver you can drive north to Pemberton and this highway will take you to Kamloops and then Jasper. This can be done in one day. Especially in July when days are long.

So if we take the highway north from Whistler to Pemberton and then on to Kamloops and Jasper, would this route take about 8 hours without stops?

Thanks!

Joy the short answer to your question is Yes + or -.

However in a mountainous place like BC no-one should drive 'without stops'.

The drive fron Pemberton thru to Lillooet is winding, twisty and has some beautiful views, it also demands 100% of the drivers attention so is somewhat fatiguing.

Please budget some stretch/picnic time so you'll arrive safely.

And as to the 'dreaded rod construction/repair' it'll happen when you least expect it-unfortunately the summer months are the only ones that are practical to do major road work.

Carl, we're planning to estimate an additional 2-3 hours to the "straight" driving time so will allow 10-11 hours for the trip.

Since we're traveling with 4 children, stops are a necessity and of course, safety always comes first.

Thanks to you and everyone else for your input!
