Whistler Summer Activities

I'm heading up to Whistler in mid-July with my extended family for a reunion (ages 7 to 75). I've got the room reservations all set.

Is it necessary to book activities well in advance (golf, tours, events, etc.)?

How about restaurant reservations for mostly family-oriented places (i.e., not formal or expensive)? Although we'll want to have one special meal with everyone (14 of us) to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary.

Thoughts and/or recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.
Diane

Diane, I don't have any experience with a group that large, so I'd suggest consulting your hotel for guidance.

However, if I were in your shoes, I would book your special 50th anniversary dinner well ahead, and then you need not worry about it. What kind of food/ambience are you considering for it?

Ditto for your first night's dinner in Whistler but perhaps you've rented condos with kitchens?

I'm assuming not everyone will be participating in the same activity at once with your 7 - 75 age span, but I'd definitely book your golf dates - I'm not a golfer but I understand the Whistler/Pemberton/Squamish golf courses are very popular.

For a first overview of Whistler restaurants, I'd suggest googling Whistler AND restaurants.

Cheers,
Linda

Hi Diane,
Reservations shouldnn't be required at most family places, but it never hurts. If there are tour groups in town , or a conference, then places can book up. Golf should be booked in advance, and if you have more than one foursome, you may get a better rate. Ask for Ro Davies at Whistler Golf Course. He may be able to help. Other tours ( canoeing, hiking, rafting, etc, should be able to be booked when you arrive, but you can check directly with the companies. try www.whistler-blackcomb.com for info. Cheers, Al

If you are up during July 9, 10 & 11 there is a huge festival and concert happening in Whistler so you would definatly want to book in advance. If you do come up that weekend - there will be lots of activity!
