Whistler end of March?
My husband & I are thinking of heading to Whistler at the end of March. How are the conditions at this time of year? Is the resort crowded with college kids on spring break at this time also? I know Easter is early this year also, so I'm wondering if it will be unusually crowded...

P.S. Also if anyone could recommend a decent place to stay that won't blow our budget (we're thinking around $200/nite). I found the Pemberton Lodge just north of Whistler where a studio with a kitchenette goes for $185/night. We are flying into Seattle & will be driving up to Whistler. Any tips are appreciated!

Most school spring breaks occur in mid-March - the end of March should just be your typical spring skiing crowds - particularly after Easter.
We have stayed in Whistler at the end of March, and it is quite nice; the base weather has warmed up, while there is usually still good snow in the High Alpine.
While still busy, this is by no means a crowded time of year. You should be able to have a good choice of accommodations. The Pemberton Lodge is nice, but it is about 20-30 minutes north of Whistler. If you don't want to stay in a bustling resort, that would be a good choice.
If you want to go skiing, I'd suggest looking at a place in the resort area. You can pay $200 or less for a nice studio in one of the condos a few blocks from the slopes. We usually book online at http://www.alluradirect.com which is a broker service for owners of Whistler condos and homes.
Some places we like:
Aspens (but not for $200/night)
Woodrun
Stone Ridge
Whistler Town Plaza (Deer Lodge)
Sundance
Here is a map of resort lodging locations:

It may very well be slushy/rainy at the base, but is usually colder with better snow higher up. In the spring, a lot of skiers download on the lifts instead of plowing through slush to get to the base.

I use the owner direct site, aldirect, or something like that and get some good deals. try google, stayed for new years (ONE OF THE MOST EXPENSIVE TIMES) with pet for under 300. at the glacier reach n.village ,nice condos with outside entrances.some have private hot tubs but there is a pool and hot tub for common use. starbucks, and iga,are across the street. also free parking and free local bus .colleges in area are usually out around the 12 or so.not sure about the states.THE snow was great.iT IS EASY walking to most activities in the man part of the village, but not if you a wearing stiff ski boots.GOOD LUCK
