Where's Marilyn Dennis?
Hiya.
I'm home today with the tv on and watching Cityline. Where's Marilyn Dennis? Is she gone for good? This new woman is fine but she doesn't have the quirkiness that MD has. |
Exactly how is this a travel related question?
|
I walked over to the computer to post it.
What's your problem, cruiser. If you don't like the title, don't open the post. |
I think she is going to have a new show on CTV called the Marilyn Dennis show. CTV bought City T.V
|
Marilyn left Cityline a couple of months ago - conflict of interest between her other job with CHUM FM with the takeovers of CHUM and CITY. So CITY has been trying out a variety of different hosts. No idea when they'll make a decision. Some have been good, others not so good.
I did hear that Marilyn is going to have another show on CTV. |
Too bad. I don't see the show very often -- just sometimes on Saturdays or the occasional day I'm home from work, and I always enjoyed MD.
Thanks for the info, though. |
.....loved your retort, gtg!
Who knew Lounge snarkiness could travel to Canada! |
Yes, sometimes a question like this just couldnt be posted on the lounge without having to do a lot of explaining. Although it would just probably get ignored.
I enjoy Marilyn Dennis and will watch for her new show. |
Exactly. Cityline is a Toronto-based show. Posting it in the lounge would have been a waste of time. I get annoyed with people who insist on posting when they have nothing to say. I think they just like to see their name in print.
|
My apologies to everyone, I'm so terribly sorry that my question offended you. I thought this was a travel forum - obviously I was mistaken.
|
You've got it backwards, don't you, cyc? It was my question that offended you. Lighten up. I post a thousand travel questions and answers on here. I reserve the right to occasional broaden my scope. You don't have to be the hall monitor every day.

On topic.
The original question, although posed out of curiosity, was a genuine travel question. Woemn, and about seven men, from across Canada try to get tickets to Toronto-based television shows, and seeing a show broadcast is the highlight of many a trip to Canada's biggest city. This has been going on forever; Elwood Glover at the o;d Four Seasons on Jarvis, and many visitors since. In the USA, people plan their trips based on when the can get tickets to Ellen, Letterman, Leno, Colbert, Stewart... and crowds opf people outside the morning TV shows in NY demonstrate the interest people have in seeing television produced. I used to travel to Agincourt to see most of the Ian Tyson programs produced. People even love to watch radio -- Erin Davis in the window at The Bay at Christmas. I saw the last CITYLINE with Marilyn, and it was touching. BAK |
Thank you, BAK!
|
This IS travel related. I plan to visit Toronto soon and if Cityline is prime TV watching for Torontonians, I want to know about it. I assume the show focuses on local Toronto events?
|
Actually, I'd kinda like to know where Marilyn Dennis is myself.
Of course, I never heard of her, but who cares? I'm so glad this wasn't a "What should I wear"? or a "Did your mother-in-law wear black at your wedding and how did you cope?" question. |
It's sort of like Where's Waldo, isn't it? I'm sure you'd like her if you knew her, Dukey.
|
"I'm sure you'd like her if you knew her..."
Hmmmmm..that's what they're starting to say down here about Sarah Palin, too! To think she was hanging out only 40 miles from the Canadian border..scary!!! |
I wish we did have a forum for Canucks - for chat about things no one else but Canadians would know/care about.
Like Marilyn Dennis - who annoys the heck out of me on the radio. |
I must be living under a rock, as I didn't realize Marilyn Dennis had left Cityline. This explains why Kimberley Seldon was hosting for the one day in Aug/Sept. that I tuned in.
I have always enjoyed MD. She would host CHUM FM radio in the early AM along with 2 guys, and then rush over and do her TV show 5 days a week for years... took some stamina. I thought she was very easy going. My favorite was "home day". |
Oooooh, home day! Love it!
I think the funniest thing is when they do fashion day (whatever I see, I see on Saturday, but I think it's called Fashion Friday) and they have that blonde woman there. She calls everything 'little' -- a little dress, a little purse, a little parka and mukluks. I always look up expecting to see Barbie clothes. When I saw it last time she had lots of nice things from J. Michaels. I used to like that store years ago, when it used to be downtown. The only one in Toronto now is in Faroffistan -- a mall somewhere in the subs -- but I might trek out there one day anyway. Dukey, I'd take Marilyn Dennis as VP over Sarah Palin any old day. |
