Where to view the Fireworks?
 

I'll be in Montreal in July and have read about the fireworks competition. Can they be viewed from a bridge or some other spot in the city? I don't want to go to an amusement park. I know I won't get the accompanying music. Local knowledge of good viewing spots would be appreciated.

i usually go to the old port and watch the fireworks from there... be sure to go there early though since it can get to be a huge jam, both for cars, and for the people... the music is actually broadcasted on a radio station... forgot which one though...

The music to the fireworks competition is broadcast on Rythme FM 105.7.

merrittm, the Jacques-Cartier Bridge is closed during the fireworks, and it is possible to walk out on the bridge. IMO this is the best free viewing spot. The downside is getting to wherever you're going afterwards. There are also many good spots in Old Montreal or nearby, but you're less likely to see the ground level fireworks.

Hi, we are going to be in Montreal on July 2nd and wanted to see the fireworks. Since we will be arriving on Montral that day itself, what is the best place to park the car & get to the bridge?If the music is playing on the radio, we could carry a battery operated radio with us, is there a time lag between the fireworks & the radio music?

excited_confused - park anywhere such as your lodging and take the subway. Very easy and trouble free (trip home after especially)
I watched the fireworks from the silver section in the park - totally awesome! If you want to spend the money that location is simply the best. I would say the bridge could be a decent view if cheaper is the goal. Put the small lake substantially between your spot and the park seating because the fireworks has a orientation parallel to the shore line opposite the seating.

Thanks sobolik, I was debating between watching from the park or the bridge. Of course price is a consideration since we are 4. The website does mention something about access to the rides, do you know more about that? Can you only enter after a certain time? Also, I am not clear about what you mean about the small lake, is this in the park itself?
If we do end up taking the subway, what stop do we get off at? And how early should we go? Thanks again.

Where is the best place to view the fireworks in Old Montreal?

My son and I will be there in three weeks and purchased tickets to the bronze (family?) section at the park. We're arriving by train at 6pm and going to the fireworks that evening...I think they start at 10:00 or so. It was the only night we could go. I'm hoping we can get into Montreal, drop our stuff and get to the park w/enough time to walk around so he can catch a ride or two. We're staying near Sherbrook and Decarie...what's the best way to get to the park? Also how about getting back afterwards...it the metro/public transportation 24 hrs?

II'm too late for excited_confused, they left the 2nd but for others: The park pass to fire works includes rides.
The small lake is in the park and visible from the bridge.
The subway map on the subway wall is the only info source required to get around.
