Where to stay in Montreal?

My husband, daughter, son-in-law & I will be in Montreal (our 1st time) for 2 nights during the week of 6/24/08. We are looking for reasonable lodging under $75 USD per night, per couple, if possible. We're interested in the Little Italy area, but open to any area if there's fun things to do within walking distance. How about parking? Thanks for any suggestions!

$75 a night well.... maybe you'll find something in one of these sites:

under 75$/night last minute will be very difficult especially last minute. Please see my answer below which I posted on your other post as well.

Hi janeanns,

While little italy is a fun area to spend 1/2 day or so I wouldn't advise staying in that area for a vacation (I don't even know of any hotels there) as it is not central at all.

I would stay in the downtown core ( I like the Omni for location and service) and make little italy an excursion one day. While you're in little italy you can start by walking around the Jean Talon market, which is a lot of fun and a great place to buy some unique snacks and food related souvenirs. You can then start walking around the area and head to St. Laurent blvd. There are some nice restaurants and a great supermarket called Milano's which is fun to check out. I would have dinner at Casa Napoli...my favourite Italian restaurant in the city. It's more of an upscale place but not ridiculously priced. If you're up for a more laid back and inexpensive option check out Pizzeria Napoletana on Dante street. This place has authenic Italian pizza and pasta, is BYOB and delicious!!!

If you have any more questions don't be shy!

We stayed at the Quality Inn on Crescent St. It is not a new hotel but it was cheap and very well located. However it was not $75 per night. As I recal it was over $100 but we needed 2 beds. There was a self park parking lot right across the street.

I know this is late but just to help anyone:

Chateau de l'Argoat http://www.hotel-chateau-argoat.qc.ca/

It was really nice and not very expensive. I can't quite remember the exact rate for 2 people (double) but I think it was between 85 and 90 dollars.

The employees were ALL very friendly, helpful and efficient. I speak French but my wife doesn't and everyone there was perfectly bilingual.

Parking is free but very tight and you do have to give your keys so they can move the cars around. But it's never a problem to them if you need your car. The continental breakfast was wonderful. (Montreal Bagels, croissants, muffins, juice, coffee and others things as well) And they prepared if for you!! Breakfast hours are from 7am to Noon!!
