Where to stay in Halifax?

Two UK visitors looking for a recommendation for a good quality, friendly, animal free B&B in Halifax - avoiding the worst of the dead animal smells (see earlier posting) and making the most of the views.

I am not an expert on B&B's in Halifax, but, as you do not seem to have had much success with this request, will refer you to an invaluable resource to search on your own. Try www.bbcanada.com

However, I do know my Halifax hotels so if you do decide to go that route, you might want to try the Lord Nelson, you can't do better for locale, right in the thick of things and old world elegance.

For a more budget-minded choice, check out the Comfort Inn in Bedford. Yes, it is a drive away from downtown and it is a 'chain'. But, it has a lovely verandah view of Halifax Basin and the architect was a friend and he did a bang-up job of NOT making it feel like an ordinary motel, if I do say so myself. And there is a charming breakfast room with real homemade bread!

BTW, I looked for the 'dead animal' reference but am left confused-could it have been removed?

We just returned from Nova Scotia & we stayed at Garden Inn on South Park Drive. Good location. Lobby & breakfast area is very nice. Rooms are ok, more like hotel rooms. A room for 2 is $109.
Hope this helps. RAte includes continental breakfast.
