Where To Honeymoon?

My fiancee and I are starting to plan our June/2001 honeymoon, and would greatly appreciate some help.We live in Toronto, and would like to take a motor trip, either to Quebec or to Northern Ontario, and would appreciate some accomodation suggestions. We would probably only spend 2 days at the most in one location. Our budget allows us about $400.00-$450.00/day for food and lodgings.Thank you for any advice.

Is this a Troll?
You talk about Northern Ontario and Honeymoon in the same sentence?
LOL!!
(I know I grew up there)
For the kind of $$$ you have budgeted you could go anywhere you want, open up your horizons a little Lianne,it's a great old planet, believe me.

Why don't you just answer her question or shutup? Stop being such a jerk.

She obviously wants to spend her honeymoon in Northern Ontario or Quebec and she stated her budget. I can't see anything wrong with her request for advice.

Having said all of that, I will now ask Lianne if she can be a little more specific as to where in this region she prefers. If we get that decided first, then it will make it a lot easier to give advice on the accomodations.

Lianne:

Do you want to be in the city or the country? I personally would recommend Montreal or Quebec City. Your budget will allow you to stay at the top places and still eat pretty well. When you say that you will only spend 2 days in one location, does that imply moving around? Maybe you could do both Montreal and Quebec City. In any event try to narrow down where you wish to go and then let's talk about where to stay and eat, etc.

Good luck

To [email protected]. We will be travelling for a week to 10 days, and enjoy both city and country settings, preferably large city hotels, and country lodge or inn accomodations( not bed and breakfasts )We are not necessarily restricting ourselves to Ontario and Quebec, just starting our plans, so if you know of other great places farther away, we are open to all suggestions. When I mentioned Northern Ontario previously, I was thinking about the Macinac Island area. Do you know anything about it,and specifically the Grand Hotel?Thank you for your thoughtful reply, and hope to hear from you again.
P.S. To Cal Z : My fiancee and I travelled extensively on this planet "outside of Canada" and are taking time to see what is in our own country now and over the next few years.Your ignorant reply would indicate that perhaps you hail from another planet, and I think you were a little premature in your statement that you " grew-up ".Try the present tense.

Lianne,

Try Le Manoir Richelieu in Pointe-au-Pic, Charlevoix, Quebec. It is a beautiful grand hotel on a cliff overlooking the St-Lawrence. There is a dining room with bay-windows where they have violins playing. The Casino de Charlevoix is part of the hotel. It also has a spa. BEAUTIFUL. Also. MANY B7B's in the area. Stop in Baie St-Paul en route. From Pointe-au-Pic, drive to Tadoussac, where you could stay in the Hotel Tadoussac. Go whale watching. Drive or take a boat ride on the Saguenay to see the fjords!!! BEAUTIFUL!!!

There's also the Gaspe peninsula!!! WOW!!!

Ross. :-)

Hi Lianne: Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. Mackinaw is in Michigan just south of Sault St Marie Ont.. There is a good site on the web to get lots of info. How about the Lake Superior Circle drive. Thunder Bay is a beautiful city to visit (lived there for 2 yrs its to far away but a beautiful spot). The north shore highway to Duluth Minn. is spectacular and there are great resorts along the way including Lutsen ski Resort (mountain biking , gondola rides , gold ect.
Then go around the southern shore of Superior to Mackinaw island and down the shoreline of Lake Michigan or back around Georgian bay and go from Espanola to Tobermory on the Ferry. In Thunder Bay there is a great little inn called the White Fox Inn its truly romantic. Have a great time finding the perfect solution. Karen

I sort of agree with that other snotty bastard - that Ontario is well..just a little on the boring side for a honeymoon. I would lean more towards the romance of Quebec City and the cosmopolitan flair of Montreal. Congratulations!

I would opt for Quebec rather than Ontario. Montreal would be great and Quebec City wouldn't be so bad either. I would probably choose Montreal over Quebec City because it is more cosmopoliton with a lot more to see and do.
