Where should we go...Niagara falls, or Niagara on the Lake???
 

I know that I can post this on the Canadian site, however, I seem to get better results on this site.

My husband and I are looking to go away this weekend to eitehr Niagara Falls or Niagara on the Lake. We live in teh Detroit area and want a quick and fairly close getaway.

I have been to Niagara Falls a long time ago, and wondered if someone could suggest where to stay in both places.

Where do you think we shoudl stay...Niagara on the Lake or the Falls?

Restaruant suggestions would be helpful too.

If you can get a better response somewhere other than the Canadian forum, more power to you. Go post your question there.

My sentiments exactly!

The irony is that she already has five good responses over in the USA section.

But no one in the USA section has talked about the casino in Niagara Falls and noted she's got a casino in Windsor close to home, so might as well go to Niagra on the Lake for better evenings.

Not that I even got a great response. Thought I would let everyone know that we are going to the Harbour House Inn. It looks very nice.

The two places are quite close together. Check whether there will be a light show over the falls one night you are there. That's worth watching, unless you're happier in an elegant restaurant in NotL.

When do you plan to travel? That makes a bit of a difference.

And, for food -- I really like the Oban Inn in NotL, for an elegant, leisurely, meal.

we are gonig to the Charles Inn. I heard it is good. We are going this weekend. for one night.

Just finished staying two nights at the Pillar and Post in NOTL.

Hotel was good - clean and quiet is what I like. (After spending three
years on the road as a consultant, all hotels look the same to me...except for the Waldorf Astoira in Manhatten)

Dinner at the Pellar Estates winery was phenominal. Dinner at the Hildebrand Estates was very good.
The restaurants had few patrons and had a good long chat with the waitstaff about wine, food and NOTL.

The early morning drive to Niagara Falls to attend a convention was a good way to start the day.

Yes, Niagara on the Lake is close to Niagara Falls. You can stop off for 2 days and take in a show. Princess of Wales is nice. So, is Pillar & Post. Then you can visit the wineries. Then off to Niagara Falls. Or vice versa. They are not far from each other.
