Where do the locals eat?
We know about the upscale dining in the areas where we will be traveling. We'd love to know where the moderately priced restaurants are where the locals eat in Victoria, Whistler and Banff. Steaks, seafood and French are of particular interest. Thanks for any suggestions.

Val D'Isere in Whistler is very nice. Its not super expensive and has nice classic french comfort food. Really good.

The restaurant at the tennis club seemed to be a local place in Whistler. I think the name is Wildflower. WhistlerAl of this board recommended it. He was on the money with every suggestion.

Thanks Whistlergirl and cmcfong! I've done a search of WhistlerAl's responses and have quite a list of restaurants now. We're so looking forward to our trip next week. It will be great to get out of this Georgia heat for awhile.

Maybe someone closer can report on Bumpers, in Banff.
It was a favorite of mine when I lived out there. bAK |
Bumpers meals are good value I've eaten there a few times, Tony Romas and the Keg are in the town but they target mainly the tourist.
Melissa's is a place that you will find the locals and good food. They are across the road from Banff Park Lodge, 218 Lynx St. The best place that I really loved and miss now, is a greek eatery, Barpa Bill’s Souvlaki right next to the movie theatre in Banff: 223 Bear St, you will always find the locals eating there, and it isn't expensive, I use to eat there nearly every day as I lived across the road. You can eat in, but it is very small, more of a take-away place than eat in. |
