When is the best time to visit/tour Nova Scotia?
 

We've heard so much about it's beauty and want to see it. I have sent for the NS tour book, and done some homework, but would appreciate knowing when would be the best time to tour? TIA

I've gone in early June (which is prior to the arrival of the largest numbers of tourists) and I also visited in the height of the tourist season during the Tall Ships celebration. I didn't see a problem either way, but I DO make my hotel reservations quite a bit in advance. During the Tall Ships event, that turned out to be absolutely critical, since accommodations really filled up for that. I understand that fall is quite popular, but I doubt that it is as heavy is the summer season. Really, I would think any time from late May through early October would be very pleasant in Nova Scotia with the best rates and availability likely to occur toward the ends of that range.

I concur with everything Jim says.<BR>We've been at the height of the season a couple of times, and it really wasn't all that crowded. Visiting during a festival, however, is probably a different story.<BR>Have a great trip to this beautiful and interesting province!

JoAnn:<BR><BR>Being a resident of Nova Scotia, I would recommend visiting during the summer or the autumn. Our springs (this year for example) are usually not very good weather-wise. If you are a beach person, August is best as it takes a while for our ocean water to "warm" up!<BR>Hope you come & have a nice holiday! Celtic Colors, a celebration of celtic music in Cape Breton is supposed to be very nice in the autumn! Fall foilage there as well that time of year is gorgeous!
