What to do in Toronto

My husband and I live in Indiana and want to drive north in August. What is there to do in Toronto and vicinity?

What are your interests?
There is a great Art Gallery (Art Gallery of Ontario) and a great museum (Royal Ontario Museum - aka the ROM) and some interesting smaller museums and art galleries. There is a zoo - very extensive and interesting - Metro Toronto Zoo. There is the Ontario Science Centre. There are tons of interesting ethnic restaurants, lots of nightlife and theatre. etc, etc

Some of my favourite things: Harbourfront (Queen's Quay area) - restaurants overlooking the water and weekend music/cultural festivals through the summer. Zoo is good. Ethnic eating as mentioned by others - Toronto is known for is multiculturalism and "neighbourhoods" which include Chinatown, Greektown (on Danforth Avenue just east of downtown). Yorkville area in upper downtown very posh - boutiques and bistros, known to be a celebrity hangout. Museums as mentioned are good. Wine Country is down towards Niagara - if you're in TO, you might want to make the 90 minute drive to charming historic Niagara-on-the-Lake, the surrounding vinyards and wineries, and maybe even Niagara Falls if you've never seen them. Many resorts in the dozens (hundreds?) of lakes north and northeast of Toronto - 90 minutes to 3 hours away (check out Resorts Ontario). CN Tower downtown near waterfront is one of world's tallest buildings - great views from top. Oh - also lots of live Theatre as mentioned, and many high-end restaurants in addition to the ethnic and casual eateries. Thousand Islands in the St. Lawrence River are a couple hours east of Toronto - nice scenic boat cruises, you could stay in the small city of Kingston which has a good waterfront area. Ottawa is about 4 hours from Toronto. Lots of good museums, Byward Market area is a concentrated district of many restaurants, sidewalk patios and small interesting shops.
