What to do in Quebec city?

Hi,
We will be on a cruise soon from Boston to Montreal. The ship will be in Quebec City for two full days. Do we need to take the tour the cruise line offers of both the upper and lower town; or, just walk one of them each day? We've heard it is easy walking, but we were wondering if the tour would be any better. Thanks for your help!

If it were me, I would prefer to see it on my own. Quebec City is full of nice outdoor cafes where you may just want to linger and soak up the atmosphere, and so many little shops, tiny side streets, and other interesting places to explore.

Do your own thing. Be sure to schedule a meal in the Chateau Frontenac, a very lovely old hotel.

I agree with above. The place can easily be visited on your own by just walking/sitting around.

Two primier attractions for me were:
1. Chute Montmorency. The view is of a waterfall north of the city. The river plunges over the brink and falls a long ways to the bottom.
2. The Plains of Abraham battlefield.
It was a battle that changed the course of history in North America.
The multi media presentation that describes the battle is quite good.
It is bilingual.
