What is the best way to travel from Quebec City to Montreal?

We will not have a car when we are in Quebec. We would like to know if it is better to travel by Via Rail or by boat between the two cities. Can someone please provide me the name/website of the company that operates boat service between the two cities.
We will visit in May or June, what will the weather be like?
Thanks.

I've never actually taken the boat, whose website is

I believe the boat ride is 4 hours with a stop in Trois-Rivieres and either Varennes or Sorel. This might be a better way to see some of the riverfront communities along the Saint-Lawrence. I actually want to try this in the summer.

VIA Rail is a fine way to make this trip. 3 hours Montreal to Quebec; not much scenery although near Montreal/near Quebec & Mont Saint-Hilaire are pretty and you pass through the centers of a few towns.

Another option, slightly less scenic than the train is to take the bus:

I find I often prefer to take the bus, just because they run very frequently, which allows me to pick the time of departure according to my schedule, not according to theirs...plus if I miss one just barely, I can always catch the next one.

May/June can be overcoat-weather cool, perfectly pleasant or quite hot (the first is less likely in June and the last is less likely in May). Sounds like an evasive answer I know but it's the truth. That said, I think May/June is a great time to come!

BTW, wanted to say but forgot, the bus is 3 hours, same as the train.
