Whale Watching :Victoria or Tofino?
Will be traveling to Vancouver Is. soon and will be staying 2 days in Victoria & 4 days in Tofino. Which location is a better choice to go whale watching? Thanks for your help!

There are lots of whale-watching groups going out of the Inner Harbour in Victoria, but they don't always see whales. There are certainly no guarantees, but my guess is that your chances would be better in Tofino. We were coming back from Hot Springs Cove in a float plane a couple of years ago and saw several of them from the plane.

Tofino and Ucluelet are great for whale watching. Tons of trips out of Ucluelet. They are also great towns to just walk around.
If you only have 2 days in Victoria wait and watch the whales from Ucluelet.
While your in Victoria you should check out the museum. It has some of the best shows I have ever seen.

Well there are Whales and then there are Whales.
From Victoria you are more likely to see Orcas as the resident southern pod is usually in or around nearby Islands.
From Tofino you are more likely to see Grey Whales as there is a small population of juvenile Grey Whales sometimes adults as well. Also on tap are the ubiquitous Harbour Seals, Sea Lions, Eagles and jumping Salmon.
All in all Tofino is your best bet for variety because it's on the 'outside' as we say here in BC.
Also-you should seriously consider a Salmon Fishing Charter from Tofino or better yet nearby Ucluelet-fishing has been fabulous this year and will stay good through September.
