Whale Watching - Seattle Area

Hi guys
Any suggestions for what company to use from where for whale watching in Seattle area for party of 4 this September?

Just about all of the whale watching outfits do their thing up around the San Juans, not in the Seattle area itself (the local TV folks hyperventilate when whales are seen locally). Why not kill two birds with one stone and drive further north to Port Townsend, Whidbey Island, Anacortes, etc etc and see the islands too?

Cheers.
So if you were us, would you use a company to whale-watch from North Seattle, South BC, or Victoria (or doesn't it make any difference?)

If I had time, I'd drive to Anacortes and take the ferry to Friday Harbor, in the San Juan Islands, and pick up a boat there. I don't know if it matters which outfit. Go to the docks and have a look at the boats and read their stuff. If I didn't have time, I'd go to Anacortes and pick up a boat there.

You can't take a boat out of "north Seattle" because the port is downtown. Anyone who advertises whale watching with a Seattle departure will be taking you north, so most of the trip will be just motoring to and from. Why not drive north to Anacortes or even Bellingham, and make your waterborne time more productive?
