whale watching

I just saw a show on tv here in Nevada called Bonjour Quebec. They had whale watching up on the St. Lawerence River. Does anybody know anything about this. We will Be in Quebec City at the end of June. I saw a place a little way up (east) on the map (Tadoussac) I guess I want to know if anyone has done this, and how far is it from Quebec City. Thanks in advance

Tadoussac is a short 3 hours from Quebec City. I suggest taking more time and drive highway 362 between Baie-St-Paul and La Malbaie, stopping at Île-aux-Coudres (free ferry).

There might not be many whales at the end june.

Here's a good article on whale watching in the St. Lawrence:

There are several companies offering cruises from Tadoussac in a variety of boats. In my opinion the best way to see them is in a zodiac (12 to 20 passengers), but you might prefer a larger ship.

Many varieties of whales can be seen in the St. Lawrence from May to the end of September, and the mouth of the Saguenay at Tadoussac is one of the best places to see them. There will be lots to see at the end of June.

You can check the current sightings on this excellent website:

The drive from Québec City through the Charlevoix region is quite beautiful, and although you could do it in a day, it d would be best to plan an overnight stay at Tadoussac.
