Westjet ticket prices

Does anyone know how Westjet offers seat sales? Yesterday the tickets I want were $77. today they are $94 and $162.

I'd like to watch and catch a sale just starting does anyone know who they post them?

You can register with Westjet's "JetMail Info" service, which sends you e-mails about seat sales.

You can register for seat sales but quite often if you just keep checking the website you will find bargains. They aren't always in the email. I use Westjet a lot and have found cheap fares that haven't been in an email. If you are planning on flying check everyday. I think they lower the fare on flights that aren't fully booked. I recently got a flight from Victoria to Calgary for $58 one way. The return was more but the total savings were excellent.

Yesterday - two tickets Edmonton to Maui were $2,400.00 and today $1,200.00 - I bought!

But the problem is how do you know when they hit the bottom?

When a sale is posted, check the price of flights leaving in about 4 to 6 weeks and that should give you a good idea of how low the cost may go. However, you are also taking your chances on waiting for a better price. Westjet tends to only post seat sales for flights within the next 2 months or so. Watch for their Blue Tag specials on Thursday evenings and for sales on the weekends. If you can fly on a low demand day like Tuesday or Wednesday, you can also get a much cheaper price usually. The most important thing is to just keep checking often. Prices often change even in the same day.

I just checked Westjet for the same flights I bought yesterday for $1,200.00. Today they are over $2,600.00 for the same two tickets. It seems they must have had an unadvertised one day sale.

I have been looking at prices from Edmonton to Maui, certain dates in March, for about a month now.

It started when I found tickets on Air Canada for about $1,050 for two people through LAX. The next day I thought I would buy them - They were well over $2,000.00 for the same tickets.

Now ... two days ago tickets with Westjet were over $2,500 - yesterday I bought for $1,200 - and today they show back to $2,600 plus.

Go figure!
