Hi Stefanie,
I see you have gotten few replies, so I thought that I would top a couple of threads for you.
I personally have stayed at the Le Germain hotel on Mansfield, right off of rue Sherbrook. It is a great small boutique hotel, only about 2-3 years old. It is not what I would call "quaint"-that would be more like the Auberge Bonapart or Vieux Port down in the Old Town. But I will say that both areas have a lot happening during the day, great restaurants, good sightseeing and it is easy to get around the city,so wherever you stay, is usually fine.
Things to do, this is what we always do:
Go to the Museum of Fine Art on rue Sherbrook
I also like to visit their gift shop and buy cards and calendars for gifts.
Antiquing on rue Notre Dame, no bargains but fun.
Walk up to and around Mt Royal.
Walk StCatherine, rue St Denis.
The Casino is good for once, just to see what it is like, go at night.
rent a bike and ride the paths down along the water.
The Markets.
The Biodome.
and EAT! there are soo many good restaurants in Montreal!
Have a Happy Birthday-we will be there for our anniversary the same month!
