Was that Post Hotel, or Posthumous Hotel?

On the TV at the Post Hotel, one of the channels is devoted to a looped video presentation that informs visitors about the abundance of natural attractions in the area. As you would expect, one of the prime aspects of this is the wildlife. Wisely, the presentation goes to great pains to point out that we should exercise caution in how we go about viewing these majestic animals. Not just for our own safety, but for the animals’ sake as well.

After all, numbers are low, and the very survival of some species may be under threat.

To this end, the Post has come up with a remarkable way to interact with these magnificent creatures. Admittedly, this may not appeal to those pedantic types who prefer their wildlife to be wild, or for that matter to contain life, but if you’re willing to put such trifling distinctions to the side, simply leave your room and venture down into the lobby. Or into the library. Or down the hall.

Seriously, the amount of animals that have died to decorate the Post’s walls gives Noah’s Flood a run for its money.

They still haven’t replied to my complaint from March 5, either (Happy wife, happy life thread).

Probably too busy shooting things.

Should we e-mail Dick Cheney and tell him we know of just the interior decorator for his latest mansion?

Intrepid1 May 19th, 2006 05:57 AM

Please don't send any e-mail to Dick Cheney. If you do you'll probably be placed under surveillance as a possible terrorist. Instead, please offer him a job somwhere up there so we can get rid of him!

Paul, please respond to my thread called "Happy wife, happy life? Not at the Post Hotel"

Thank you.

Now Judy, you know Dick mainly shoots lawyers and we can't really fault him for that, can we?

In reply to Hugh Jass,

I can't - for some reason when I click onto that thread the reply mechanism is no longer there. I'm from Australia.

A message for Paul H--My wife and I will be at the Post Hotel in 9 days. We have stayed there before and she loved the place, which meant that I get to post postive rather than negative comments about the hotel. When I am not cavorting around the Canadian Rockies, I work for a major international hotel company. Personally, I think the Post does a damn good job.

Assuming I don't get shot by the owners looking to add trophies to their walls, I will make it my personal mission to bring your comments to the attention of management and request that they finally respnd to your complaints.

For those interested in finding out what upset Paul H and Mrs Paul H, do a Fodors search for "Post Hotel" and you will hace access to all of the luird details under the heading "Happy wife, happy life.".

Personally, I think the whole problem could have been avoided if everyone simply went to bed earlier in the night .

Thanks Craig, I appreciate it. Unfortunately the comments in the thread have been brought to management's attention, as I have emailed them the Happy Wife Happy Wife thread a couple of times as it has unfolded. The complaints remain unanswered. Oddly enough though, I think they may have responded in a way - the original thread no longer carries the mechanism for replies, and a new thread with the same title (opened by Hugh Jass in which he tried to keep the conversation going) is now impossible to open. If I were a more cynical person, that might have led me to suspect that a frank conversation may have taken place between the Post and Fodors. Possibly involving the services of Lionel Hutz.

Hey Hugh Jass,

Your Happy Wife thread has now completely disappeared. Definitely something wierd going on there.

To Paul H--

Arrived at the Post Hotel on the 18th and showed your comments on Fodors to the front desk staff (I logged on to Fodors and showed them your actual posts). I was subsequently advised that your comments had been brought to the attention of upper management. So let's see what happens...

Paul & Craig,

I have it on the QT that with Calgary being soaked in oil money, most of Lake Louise is not overly concerned about the one off complaints.

Actually makes sense with the Dick Cheney / Halliburton connection...
I guess we'll have to wait for either a crash in the oil markets or an end to the war in Iraq to get the charm of the Post Hotel back....pity!

Paul_H Aug 27th, 2006 04:47 PM

Thanks Craig.

Niagaranat, I think you're definitely onto something there. Pretty short-sighted on Lake Louise/Post Hotel's part if that is the case though.

Paul_H,

Yes, my thread has disappeared!! I didnt get any indication from Fodor's that they were going to delete it. I smell a conspiracy!!!
