Viva Vancouver !Great time in Vancouver

Although I had nothing but bad experiences on Vancouver Island I must say that everything was absolutely lovely in Vancouver city. The hotel Rosedale on Robson was terrific - internet access around the corner was 7cents per minute - bus drivers were particularly helpful and friendly ( better than I have seen anywhere else ) people were friendly and helpful and the shopping was just great. Lastly may I say that the drivers in Canada ( I am in Australia) are so wonderful I wish we could bottle you and import you here to show us locals how it should be done.
Warm wishes

What were your bad experiences on Vancouver Island? I have never had a bad experience there. Particularily love Sooke and Port Renfrew. Please explain.

Oh, I see your post farther below about your experience with your hotel in Victoria. It is too bad that that happened but is that the only thing? Please see my response about getting compensation for your bad experience. It may not work but mostly the hotels in Canada are pretty good about it. Good luck.

Elizabeth,

Glad to hear you enjoyed Vancouver (my home). We returned from three weeks in Australia last month and we were thrilled to have had the opportunity to experience your wonderful country. The people in Oz were friendly, helpful and lots of fun. You are lucky to live in such a beautiful, unique country. Viva Australia!!!!!!!!

Let me second the above. I've travelled to over 70 countries around the globe and the only place that could really tempt me away from Vancouver is Sydney. Like Vancuver it embraces and almost makes love to it's marvelous series of coves and bays. What it lacks in real mountains it makes up in a great climate.

Other Austrailian cities, e.g. Melbourne almost turn their backs on the sea and attach to the beaches with little satelite towns like Port Phillip and Freemantle. But Sydney - ah Sydney - too bad it's so far away or we'd definately consider a seasonal retirement home there.
