Visit the canadian rockies in May-june

Hi

We are planning a tour to Vancouver and Canadian Rockies for around 7 days. I have heard about Sun Peaks also as one of the attractions. I was planning to spend 2 days in Vancouver and then take the Canadian Rockies tour of Jasper, Lake Louise, Banff and Calgary areas.

Please advise me on the local attractions and the internal means of transport. Is Rocky mountaineer train a good option for part of the Canadian Rockies?

Thanks

We took "best of Canadian Rockies" of Tauck - starting and Ending in Calgary. There are also other tours from Vancouver. It is a great company. If you want, look in www.tauck.com

Took the Rocky Mountaineer train from Vancouver to Banff with a cousin from England - it was super, great food, comfortable seats, spectacular scenery. Go for it

Sun Peaks is a ski mountain near Kamloops. I don't see why you should go there in the summer.

The Rocky Mountaineer is a vacation by itself. But it's not cheap, starting at ~US$750 per person for a 3 day/4 night itinerary Vacnouver to Banff in May. More in June.

The cheap way would be to drive.

SallyCanuck,
Which of the tours did you do? I think Banff is the first.
Canadian Rockies and Vancouver
Classic Rail Circle
Best of the West
Western Explorer

We did the Classic 3 nights/4 days - (I'm not sure how they claim that's 4 days) boarded in Vancouver, a night in Kamloops with options to attend a local theatre or meal at the hotel, then ended in Banff. Opted for Gold Leaf service but the red would have been just as good, I imagine. Gold Leaf you go downstairs for meals.

I'm sure the views are good when you drive but the tracks go places cars don't plus the commentary from the guide was very good. And those warm cookies for snacks.
