Visa required in Victoria for 6 hour cruise ship stop?
Hi,
My friend, a resident of India, will be on a Celebrity cruise ship that will stop only 6 hours in Victoria. She does not have a Canadian visa, will she have to stay on the ship?

As long as she has a passport, I think she will be OK.
However, the cruise company would normally check all passengers against their itinerary in advance. I suggest your friend calls the cruise line for their input.

Unless she is a permanent resident of the US and has a green card, she will have to have a visa (and note that it has to be a temporary resident visa, not a transit visa).

A Canadian visa is required for cruise ship passengers who are citizens of these countries [http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.asp - India is on the list]. It is recommended that passengers obtain their Canadian visas before arriving in the U.S.
A temporary resident visa (not a transit visa) is required whether or not passengers remain on the cruise ship.
Passengers applying at a Canadian visa office in the U.S. are advised to review the information concerning temporary resident visas [http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca...e.aspx?view=d].

hey dont know anything about the visa but if ship is coming in at evening and is docking way across the town and not right in the center of city, it may not be worth it to get off. many things are closed/theyll tell you otherwise/ it's a 45 min walk , not the 20 we were told/ so,,,take a pub crawl or at least the bus into town people who went to the gardens said it was a long ride and kinda dark when they got there if i were there again, i think i would just enjoy the ship have fun!!
