Victoria or Vancouver?

Victoria or Vancouver?
I would like to plan a trip over the Christmas weekend, but I am not sure which destination is best, Vancouver or Victoria? I like to shop and visit musuems and visit some local pubs. Any suggestions? Will there be shops open on Christmas eve or even Christmas day?

Also, anyone have ideas for shows in Victoria or places with good entertainment? My husband and I are going right before Christmas for a few days.
Alwayzintherian, we chose Victoria over Vancouver just because it seems more peaceful, though we really like Vancouver a lot. If you are interested in my recent search on B&B's and hotels in Victoria, I'll be glad to post my findings.
We are planning to go to the Museum of BC, which we went to years ago. It is very good. We are thinking of going to the spa at the Delta Victoria, where we will have access to the fitness club. Anyone have thoughts on that?
Maybe we'll go to Buchardt Gdns, if the weather is good. Any ideas are appreciated.

Butchart Gardens can even be nice in the rain if the temperatures are mild and air is calm. They have umbrellas available. I haven't been to the spa at Ocean Pointe but know someone who went a few months ago and she seemed to like it. As for shopping, I wouldn't expect much open on Christmas Day. Chinatown might be your best bet.

Have spent 3 Christmas vacations in Victoria. Love seeing flowers blooming December 25. Last time I was there a very unusual snow storm stopped the city cold [Idid that accidentally but I like it

We stay in a hotel with a mini kitchen, shop for yummy Christmas treats, walk along the beach looking for pretty sea glass and shells, visit different restaurants for lunch, take in a museum (Emily Carr House was a lovely surprise) or two, look in the art studios, and play scrabble and do a jigsaw puzzle. It's truly a lovely place for a Christmas vacation.
Try to get the hotel near the inner Harbour so that you don't have to drive everywhere. Walking in Victoria is generally pleasant, even if the sun does set at 4:00.
