Even with your husband's bad knee I wouldn't hesitate to go to Butchart Gardens. Yes there are lots of stairs, however it is also wheelchair compatible. When you enter and pay your fee, just tell the person at the gate that you have a mobility problem and they will ensure that you get parking closer to the main entrance and you can even ask for a wheelchair - which used to be free; I'm not sure if there is a charge now or not.
